I've got a windows 10 machine that needs to be reloaded due to OS corruption (no hardware/disk failure). There is some files I need to retrieve, but can't seem to get them. I've tried using Hirens boot, and Ubuntu Live. In Ubuntu live, I can see the drive using the Gparted tool that is built-in Ubuntu, but I can't see it in Files aka ubuntu's version of file explorer. Maybe cause it's not mounted, I'm assuming? My next step is to plug it in my personal windows desktop, and see if I can retrieve from there. Just wanted to run it by the community real quick to see if there's an easy way to retrieve using Ubuntu Live, or any other tool.

RE: Cisco Access Point Install Help (AIR-AP18321-B-K9)
Thanks everyone. I was able to console into the device with the console cable I bought from Microcenter. I did have to install some drivers since Windows was not recognizing the device. After that, it recognized it as Com3. One of my coworkers was able to remote in my laptop and help me configure the AP.
Appreciate everyone's help. I may be posting more often, because I'm getting exposed to a lot of technology I'm not familiar with. LOL

My laptop does not have a serial port. So do I need some type of adapter for it to work?

I grabbed a console cable from Micro-center, which luckily was down the street. I’ll try these steps and see how it goes. I started working for this MSP about a month ago. Very challenging, but also getting exposed to different environments.

@Fredtx Is there a reset button on there?
There’s a “mode” button.

Cisco Access Point Install Help (AIR-AP18321-B-K9)
I'm at a clients office replacing an AP that was fried from recent Texas power outages. I'm not familiar with how these devices are setup. There is no wireless controller in the office so it appears this was functioning as the controller too. I plugged the device in hoping it would grab an IP address via dhcp, but it's stuck with a blinking green, red, amber light, which according to online shows it's at a "Discovery/join in process" that I'm guessing it's looking for a controller? My next step is to contact Cisco support. I think they'll probably need to console to the ap, but I don't have a console cable. I do have a patch cable, not sure if that will be good enough. Any thoughts or directions would be much appreciated.

RE: O365 User wants calendar invites automatically accepted, and added to calendar.
@dbeato said in O365 User wants calendar invites automatically accepted, and added to calendar.:
@Fredtx No, it will apply to all.
Oh ok. So their options would be to either have it apply to all, or have his calendar delegated to someone else to manage?

You can have the Server or user set to approve the calendar automatically
Will this be applied for only "internal" invites within the company?

O365 User wants calendar invites automatically accepted, and added to calendar.
I've got a client, who's CEO of the company wants internal calendar invites to automatically be accepted and added to his calendar.
I was looking at the "set-calendarprocessing" cmdlet via powershell and it appears this feature is only for Resource Mailboxes, not User mailboxes.
I was going to email the client, and suggest they do a delegation for his calendar, and have someone else manage his calendar, which is a normal thing to do. Any suggestions?

As far as depth, that varies depending on the question asked. "What port does DNS use?" will have a much shorter answer than "Can you explain how DNS resolution works.
That makes sense to me too, but reading online some say you should elaborate even if it's a short answer. Like ex: "DNS uses port 53, which uses both the udp and tcp protocol. Most of the time it will use UDP, because it's faster, which will increase the response time each time a client queries its DNS server."

@EddieJennings said in What is the best way to prepare for a technical phone interview?:
As trite as this may sound, I just answer honestly. Rarely do I have anything to study before hand other than a job description, which if I didn't think I knew enough about most of the things on the description, I wouldn't try to get an interview. If there's something I don't know the answer to, I simply say I don't know, or haven't had the chance to experience $the_thing.
I noticed one of my phone interviews I did, I really didn't prepare much, and actually did it during my lunch break. I actually did better (went to next step) on that one than the one I studied my tail off, and had "several" cheat sheets.

What is the best way to prepare for a technical phone interview?
Do you review material you are already familiar with? Or not familiar with?
Do you keep a cheat sheet (sounds bad) by your side, such as tcp/udp port numbers for known protocols, domain fsmo roles and their function, terminology definitions, etc?
What do you do or say if you're asked a question you are not very familiar with?
How much depth do you cover on each technical answer you give?

RE: Help Understanding LAN test Speed Results
@taurex said in Help Understanding LAN test Speed Results:
Try iPerf. It definitely puts storage out of the equation. Try using it with parallel threads to get more accurate results what the link can really handle. Also, it would only test TCP throughput by default but you can test UDP on a client side with -u switch. There are tons of guides on it online.
I did use iPerf and the results were within range of 900Gbit/s, which is what I wanted to know. Seems like the Lan Speed Test tool I used prior was slower due to the hard drive write times of the client, which makes sense, since I had to put a folder path to the server share.

What should a good lan speed test look like from a client to server?
