Post back here after 2 months of usage.
Not quite two months of usage (about 6 weeks), but I wanted to report back before I forgot about this thread. The android TV has become our main media box on our tv. I bought another one to replace my firestick on our tv in our bedroom.
It is still running much faster than my firestick ever did, and all classic roms (Nes, SNES, gameboy, N64) run very smooth without issues. We are also playing through several android games such Xcom, KOTR, and more all of which run flawlessly. We are able to download Netflix and Amazon Prime videos offline to take with us when traveling to my parents house for the kids. Which is not possible with Firestick.
@IRJ I would like to get this setup for my daughter. (and me of course). Any game simulator apps you recommend for getting the classic Rom's setup on the android box?
I use john SNES and NES emulators. I also use Awe64 and reicast for Dreamcast games.
The beauty of android is that you have a plethora of free and paid emulators to choose from. Most consoles have at least 10 different emulators to buy.
How do you resolve the controller differences?
All the emulators have both usb and Bluetooth support. Once you add a Bluetooth controller, you can map your own keys. Although, generally the default settings are pretty close to what you want. You can also use multiple controller by assigning a controller profile for each player.
I mean the actual physical controller. Gamecube and Dreamcast specifically had very different button layouts. I guess you just buy the USB verrsions of those controllers? Would be awkward if you didn't I would think.
Do you remember how bad some of those controllers were? The n64 controller is the absolute worse, but some of the others are really bad too. Try holding a NES or even a SNES controller now. I actually bought USB NES and SNES controllers, but I hate them. I hate the fact that they are wired, but what I hate the most is how terrible they feel compared to modern controllers.
An additional benefit to using a modern controller is that you get to map extra buttons like quick save, quick loads, screenshot, etc. I beat Super Mario Kart the other day and was able to send my brother some bragging screenshots very easily because I have a button assigned to screenshot.

About 3 weeks ago I actually found my old Nintendo 64 with 3 controllers and only 1 of them worked...lol Those joysticks were such crap. I wasn't even able to play Blitz with my buddy.

@Fredtx how did it get determined that it was their agents that did it and not just a coincidence or something?
We received several support calls from the whole Oregon area and that was one of the common denominators for all the computers that were infected with that variant. I for one hand did not work with the customer, but that's what our techs saw and found. Tbh, I'm trying to understand how that could happen when most of the ransomware cases involves a self executable file.
So many different MSPs, but they all shared one tool?
It was only one MSP (PM Consultants) who’s agent spread the infection to their own customers. Their customers called our support desperate for help.
What agent was it? Knowing which program was compromised is a big deal, those agents are hosted by the vendor 99% of the time.
I was told it was Connect Wise.

Skills is current a series of lists and single items, I'm not sure of the meaningfulness of the commas and periods within that section. Maybe break that out into a double wide bulleted list or something. Make those big items easier to read and find.
Something like this?
@scottalanmiller Just like the Nintendo Switch. It didn’t even come with a game. Also, for an extra controller it’s like $80 after tax. My daughter’s uncle got it for her for Christmas. I’m betting she’ll play with the Android box more as soon as it comes in.
GoDaddy's chief information security officer (CISO) Demetrius Comes said they've discovered unauthorized access to its managed WordPress servers. To be exact the breach opened information on 1.2 million active and inactive managed WordPress customers since September 6, 2021.
What is a decent amount of time for a candidate to follow up with a company they had an onsite interview with?
Drinking an awesome IPA at Malai Kitchen. Ipa is called Thai IPA, brewed with Lemongrass, ginger, and lots of other ingredients. They brew their beer in-house, and food is awesome too.
In a Windows world, it seems it would be better to create a Storage Space, because it gives you the flexibility to extend the storage instead of having to add/mount another virtual drive if you were to run out of space.

Also, I would get experience being in-house IT as I don't have that and don't know what it's like (might be good, might be bad, idk).
MSP now?
Basically. Not officially a full msp due to a lot of politics and the fact that we’re a fortune 300 company that does other things besides IT. IT was just a service the company decided to add in in addition to the other services and products they sell to their customers. Honestly, IT is not even their money maker.
I’m one of the senior technicians here and it’s time to move on and grow. Should have left a long time ago, but it’s better late than never.
Replacing a 2008 standard r2 with 2012 standard r2. Joined the 2012 to domain, set as domain controller to existing domain, allowed replication, transferred fsmo roles from 2008 box to 2012. Verified ALL fsmo roles are now with the 2012 box (verified from 2008 and 2012 box). From the 2008 box, my coworker tried dcpromo, but got an error "cannot contact the pdc". He then did a "dcpromo /forceremoval" and it successfully demoted the 2008 box, but when he looked at the 2012 box, AD, DNS was wiped out. So now the 2012 box no longer thinks it's a DC. Could someone tell me what happened and what we can do to fix this? Also, the 2008 server is now in a workgroup.
Just got done walking my daughter’s german shepherd puppy. Man these dogs have so much energy!

there is some cons. The pay will be about 15K more a year than what I currently make (below market value) at my company, It will be 5 min away from my home, there is some technology that I will learn that I don't have experience with.
Those are the cons?
Pretty much.
I meant pros!!!! Lol
I ran the following command: get-adorganizationalunit -filter 'Name -like "*" | format-table name, Distinguishedname -a and get a cursor with >> instead of PS C:. What does this mean?
@scottalanmiller Thanks! I'm doing some job searching right now on my computer, and now I have a completely different mentality on choosing which ones to apply for.
"The bad news is that the Kernel Page Table Isolation fix makes everything run slower on Intel x86 processors".
So does this not affect 64bit processors?
I've got someone who accidentally deleted some files a week prior and has already emptied recycle bin. However, when I view recycle bin via powershell c:"$"recycle.bin\guid I see .xlsx files there. Is there a way to restore those? I copied them over to another folder, but I'm unable to open with Excel.
Issue: Unable to add printer from Print Server to RDS2. Error " Windows cannot connect to the printer. No printers were found".
Troubleshooting: Rebooted RDS2 and Print Server. Forced gpupdate on both servers since it's deployed via gpo and found gpo was recently updated successfully. Created test folder on Print Server and confirmed I'm able to access that share and modify. This is only happening on RDS2 that can't add printer from 1 Server (printer server). I've confirmed I can add a shared printer from another server so the problem is isolated between Print Server and RDS2. Keep in mind, I'm able to "see" the printers via unc path \printserver
A customers FSMO role holder DC (DC-A) was infected with ransomware. However, the best back up they have is 1 month old from Windows Server Backup. The problem is that prior to infection there was some FSMO role organizing as DC-A was holding "most" of the FSMO roles, except the Schema and Infrastructure, which was held by DC-B. 3 Weeks ago those 2 roles were transferred from DC-B to DC-A, so all the FSMO roles could be held by 1 DC (DC-A). The problem is since DC-A has been restored back to the state it was a month ago, it now thinks DC-B is holding the Schema and Infrastructure role and DC-B thinks DC-A is holding those roles. How should I go about correcting this? Should I seize the roles from another DC? There's a total of 7 DC's, 1 in each of the 7 branch offices.
@dbeato said in Is Spectrum's modem really bridged?:
I have two customers in NC and SC and they have Spectrum with Static IPs and it is not fully bridged mode at all. We had so many problems with Sonicwalls and Edgerouters with their static IP and blocking of traffic.
One of my colleagues had spoken with Spectrum before me and told me what they said. I was like, no way. That doesn’t make sense. So I went ahead and called myself and got told the same thing. All they say is the problem is not on their end. Im like dude the traceroute is hopping through yalls modems private IP and these issues appeared after yall replaced their modem. I spent an hour debating with them on the phone and didn’t get anywhere. I’ll have to escalate this on Monday and will probably waste another hour on the phone.
