    • RE: RMM Ideas for MSP

      @scottalanmiller

      This will come of surprise, but after looking at what RMM does, and mainly the alerting expect, Zabbix can do similar with its default built in templates.

      For the management, you can use FOSS or RDP stuff or VNC.

      However I am eyeing the WAC, windows admin center, free tool from MS and can be installed ontop of Win10

      either that or I dont get RMM

    • RE: Replication Options for KVM to DR Site

      @FATeknollogee

      Simplest option.

      At night shutdown the main VM, and rsync it to the off site location, then power it back on.

      If that is an option go for it.

      You will lose 1 day of work.

      You can do the same and rsync it to another KVM host, and have it ready and configured, so you can always power that VM ,and have it to have the same MAC ADDRESS, that way it will take the same IP, when disaster strikes, login to the secondary site and power it. Or ran script that will do that.

      I am simple man

      I may be asking this prematurely, I'm about to start playing around with KVM. Is there a replication feature similar to HyperV replication baked into KVM natively?

      Many times we soo those questions, Perhaps if we can PIN KVM as topic as well as (pbx) freepbx some how

      I've always stayed away from these types of tools. They always add way more complexity/elements than are needed. Sticking with Frameworks like CSS Grid, Flexbox, Zurb, Bootstrap, etc and theming from those are cleaner IMO.

      I think when you have clients and you wish to work with regarding the design and prototyping, you can use those tools to give them power to view and edit better . thats what i understood.

      @gjacobse

      ARe you mapping more than 1 map drive, or do you have annother network shared folder, cause Windows is limited to only 1 credentail for mapping, other than that you need to make script to map to close and clear credentails then map and even close explorer.exe

      Anyone can make up stupid scenarios to make any solution look bad.

      I have a desktop & 2 laptops, what's so stupid about that?

      50 KVM hosts with no centralized management already planned

      I think it is valid question, maybe 50 is too much but the idea is to backup the connection list, so you can quickly set it up if your virt manager software got corrupted and you dont want it to be VM.

      Okay no one has 50 hosts, but maybe 10 or more or so. who cares it, I label it valid .Court Adjourned

      Is there something similar for linux or windows?

      Oh we use that thing alot in my company, and we are the leading Drupal company in the entire MENA

      @atahaynah

      ok DC and bridge I am not sure about the terminology or bridging , since all other IPs in that location is using the same subnet, you also have EMR on the same network.
      Also you dont want to interfere with the firewall, since as far as i know DC requires DHCP (not sure). And we are currently using DHCP from firewall.

      Regarding GUI changes, let me assure you with cockpit you can manage the whole system and do alot of changes from the GUI, changes that you can never revert back.

      Regarding my replies I said what happens if you ping that IP ? does it reply back ?

      If it replies back that means the IP is taken/IP conflict, if not that means something else

      @FATeknollogee

       sudo apt install dconf-cli

      dconf dump /org/virt-manager/

      the above for all virt manager settings, if you just want connections

      dconf dump /org/virt-manager/virt-manager/connections/

      I cant believe linux has registry like shit to hide your settings in it.
      to summarize:

      dconf dump /org/virt-manager/virt-manager/connections/ > backup.txt
      dconf load /org/virt-manager/virt-manager/connections/ < backup.txt

      What happens if you ping 192.168.1.40 ?

      Why enp4s0 is not getting that IP ?

      Did you give VM that IP ?

      The centos KVM machine should have that IP = 192.168.1.40

      That IP should be reserved in the FG firewall, how did you replace it ? and why ?

      Your server has an IP address of 192.168.122.1? Is that correct? Nothing wrong with that technically, but it would be exceptionally unusual. That's almost always the gateway address. What is the address of your gateway?

      Thats fine Scott, its NAT network creating for internal Networks by KVM by default, so i dont think its issue. Its IP you get from that pool if you choose NAT instead of bridge in network VM settings.

      What we need to know is the history of commands being run, and why they are being run? what is the purpose of all this or goal.

      That said shutdown all VMs, find command to do that and reboot the server, hopefully that might bring SSH up and cockpit.
