Here's to another week in the world of Windows system administration.
If only every week wasn't such a bruiser. . . .
My current job has a lower stress level than my last, but the opportunity to work with Linux didn't pan out.

RE: Poll: Enforce Default Browser

Found it best to not enforce a browser, but ensure the major ones are up to date, or force updates on existing installs to patch security vulnerabilities.
I agree with this. What I did a couple of jobs ago, was not enforce a browser, but only supported one (IE at the time) for our line of business application. Users could use Chrome or Firefox, but if stuff with "the site" broke, step 1 of troubleshooting use IE, and future problems were troubleshot from there.

RE: Random Thread - Anything Goes
Saw this on the #reddit-sysadmin IRC channel last night. Figured I'd share.
Our servers, which art in the colo, hallowed be thy ports. Thy packets come, the needful will be done, on Windows as it is on *nix. Give us this day our daily logfiles, and forgive us our typos as we forgive those who make typos, and lead us not to the cloud but deliver us new hardware, for thine is the system, and the network, and the blinkenlights, ^M

Now, I realize that some aspects of that depend on how many people need to be on boarded - but also not really with the use of things discussed with @EddieJennings using Powershell and such things.
Didn’t think your were in a greenfield, unless you’re asking hypothetically.

Clippy returns - as an emoji
Microsoft's much-maligned mascot Clippy is coming back from the dead - but only as an emoji.
Clippy the paperclip was a simplistic virtual assistant who offered tips and advice to Microsoft Office users, from 1997 and until the mid-2000s. Its constant pop-ups to suggest "help" with the simplest of tasks - such as writing a letter - annoyed many. But Microsoft says it is now bringing back the design, for its modern Office products. Clippy would replace the existing paperclip emoji in its Microsoft 365 products, including its cloud services and the modern, online version of Microsoft Office, the technology giant tweeted, but only it that tweet received 20,000 "likes" - and within hours, it had surpassed 100,000.Links the Cat > Clippy

@gjacobse I invested in an Uplift desk for my apartment office. As much as I hate parting ways with my money, it was a great decision. In my opinion, anything that gets you on your feet will be worth it.
