@EddieJennings what were the issues with your deployment? AMP related or just XA? I just deployed a new environment here and we have yet to have any issues
- Getting AMP properly installed on the golden images used by the XA streamed servers was a grave challenge.
- General terrible performance for users of applications served by XA (beyond normal the normal terrible that XA is).
- When the terrible from #1 is occurring, the VMs serving up the applications eventually become non-responsive -- killing the AMP service solves this.
- The MAP engine within amp, caused crash of our main file server. MAP is now disabled for that server, and has been disabled for the XA servers at TAC's suggestion for performance problems.
For non XA streamed servers, AMP seems to be doing its job and those servers are performing normally, though there are some one-off issues with deployment of the connector via SCCM.
My environment is extremely responsive. Not sure what the "normal terrible" would be
Greater than a minute to open an application from a Dell WYSE terminal. I'm sure there are usable XenApp environments out there. My first experience with one has been underwhelming at best. Honestly, I'm surprise there hasn't been some kind of user revolt in the last X years, where X equals the number of years XenApp has been used here.
That's insane. Mine is sub 3 seconds
Agreed - somethign is really broken in your environment.
There are a multitude of problems
Build a completely new environment, group policy and everything totally separate from everything else.
Ha! Not going to happen. At least not in my professional lifetime. But I agree, ground-up rebuild would likely benefit us.

Doing harmonic analysis for some (music) coursework.
Grading stuff? or doing homework? lol.
Homework. I'm taking a class (will do another in the fall) to renew my teaching certificate. Even though I've transitioned to IT, I'm holding on to my teacher certification. It's was a PITA to get, so I intend to keep it renewed.
The march I'm arranging is called "Qui Vive!" I have this, an assignment next week, then my final project due :).

That's a catchy tune. What kind of arrangement are you doing?
I don't blame you for keeping your teachers certs up to date! Never know when you'll get tired of kicking computers around.
This week's assignment was making an arrangement for full woodwind and brass sections for the about two-thirds of the piece.

Cool. That sounds like a fun, if not challenging exercise, lol.
It is, but it takes a good bit of time, and Iβm tired.

Good Grief.. Just skipped about a months worth of content here... ugh. Been way to tired and way to far behind to keep up. And with work, just don't have time.
Smoking some cheese after a weekend of normal chores and house work. Also working offloading some images from the phone.. Don't want to believe that tomorrow is Monday again... sigh.. oh well. Time marches on.
I can empathize. The past two weeks at work have yielded me little time to take part in forums.

RE: What Are You Doing Right Now
Finally finished! Back to your regularly scheduled ML.

RE: What Are You Doing Right Now
Doing "brief" harmonic analysis of a Debussy piano piece for my arranging class. By brief, I mean, we're require to spell the chords, rather than deep dive into function.
-
RE: What Are You Doing Right Now
Trying to make an arrangement of a Claude Debussy piano piece approachable for middle school woodwind and brass players

Get to hand off the shackle (on-call cell phone) today.
More time for making music, eh?
Yeah, and I need it this week. Going to try to knock out the final project for my class.

Office 365 Business Essentials suite -- tough to beat that price point.
Is it? What features are you getting at what price? For a small business (tiny), where is the value?
Iβll make a thread about it later when I get home from visiting family. Itβs something Iβve been wanting to think through for a bit. Figured Iβll do it for all of ML to critique

Refactoring a script to hopefully, make it more efficient

RE: What Are You Doing Right Now
Doing some review for LPI Linux Essentials test on Friday.

RE: What Are You Doing Right Now
Just got home from Peachtree Symphonic Winds Board meeting. A little over 12 hours until I take the LPI Linux Essentials exam.

I should hope the irony is not lost on you, lol.
Ha! Today was (and still is rough). At least it will end eventually and I can go home and continue learning

30 years in IT and I'm excited that my new $13 keyboard arrives today.
My only "fancy" keyboard was won in a contest on SW.
This is the "Amazon Basics" keyboard. But I love their $6 mice so figured I'd try the keyboard as mine is old and getting "sticky".
I swear by the Aukey one I have, tho it was $50 when I bought it. https://www.amazon.com/AUKEY-Mechanical-Keyboard-Anti-ghosting-Water-Resistant/dp/B01N0XQI2A/ref=pd_cp_147_1?pd_rd_w=j7sv1&pf_rd_p=ef4dc990-a9ca-4945-ae0b-f8d549198ed6&pf_rd_r=R4X6HCPMAX341RYEZYAB&pd_rd_r=d90bebaf-0982-4acd-82f2-0ca73088f397&pd_rd_wg=WO4W1&pd_rd_i=B01N0XQI2A&psc=1&refRID=R4X6HCPMAX341RYEZYAB
I'm curious, why do you swear by it?
Mostly because I can type all day long and not cause issues with pain in my wrists. I might be able to care less about the lighting thing, but it would be difficult.
Iβve been using the Microsoft natural keyboard for so long, outside of using a laptop, it would take me a while to get used to a non-curved keyboard again.

Confirmed. Opening UCS blade more of a pain-in-the-ass than opening a Dell R-series rack server.
