    • RE: Easily Remove Password Protection from PDF Files

Sat down at my work-station, down-loaded the file again.

      Double clicked...It opened.

      Opened the file inside.

      Copy pasted the text.

      Instant success, zero effort.

Should have done that straight away, would have looked like a pro :bowtie:

Fonts should never come as an .exe - if they do run away.

They come as native font files, you then install them based on the OS, either Mac or Windows does this easily

Really decent quality, great compression ratios and you can point it towards live streaming purposes too.

What defines a "hack" - What defines a security breach?

I jumped onto the source of the stats but could not see how they are measuring this.

Good point, Dash. I don't. But that's the only format Jing supports.

The open broadcast software gives you them as h264. Universal standard that just about everything uses now.

Maybe a tagging feature for profiles on here would be helpful?

i.e each user can tag themselves with what they can do so we know who is doing what.

i.e who are the AetherStore people? Who are the XenServer people? Who are Webroot people?

    • Ubuntu Server - Virtual Sound Card

This has gotta be possible but hours of google fu and lots of different attempts have all failed. So turning to here.

I have a hosted Ubuntu Server at a provider. No physical soundcard or audio interface. What I want to be able to do, is install 2 virtual sound drivers.

      Input
      Output

I want my output sound (speakers) from any software, to be routed to the input software so that it can be recorded or something else.

There is a long story as to why I'm doing it this way. I can do it on Windows standing on my head but this needs to be run 24/7. Hence the need for a hosted server and this has to be done via application.

Is my only option a hosted Windows system? On Windows there are 3 different packages that do this, one of them is: VB-CABLE (Audio Device Driver MME, DX, WDM)
      http://vb-audio.pagesperso-orange.fr/Cable/index.htm

So, is there another option in Ubuntu Server world for this?I've tried messing with "Jack" and PulseAudio but could not get them to behave.

The enforcement rate for media piracy is far far higher than the enforcement rate for dodgy software. You can thank the big Hollywood conglomerates for that.

Why do you want to do it 🙂 - What is the goal?

As a backup medium for production VMs

If you don't care about the backups and don't care if you cannot restore, go for it.

If you want it as a working backup medium, alas try something else.

    • RE: Why Measuring IT Productivity is So Difficult

      This one was fun.

IT leader: “Wow, I think this developer is great.”
HR: “Really? What do they do?”
IT leader: “They built this excellent application.”
HR: “Well, are they better than the other developer who built ten applications?”
IT leader: “That depends on what you mean by 'better.'”

After all...that 1 application happened to be called Google.
