I have to say that I am strictly against these type of firearms. You are basically giving up any type of real control over the firearm.

I haven't read the linked article, but the last one I did talked about using some type of wristband with a transmitter in it to activate the weapon. Bad guys and the government could create devices that would jam these signals and now you're an unarmed person. No thanks!

It would be awesome to see Pertino move into this space as well! soft or hard phones with Pertino could make life grand!

    • RE: Doing an Office 365 Migration

I recall the thread here on ML, it only mentioned being able to do 500, there were no instructions.

As far as Spiceworks is concerned, why are you using relaying? I have an account setup on my Exchange server that SW logs into just like my outlook clients do.
Why would this be any different for O365? Assuming that O365 can doing SMTP/POP3 - your copiers/mopiers should be able to do the same (if you're lucky the device will use IMAP).

@Bill-Kindle I want a 6% return, boy where those statistics come from can be really amaying, some high ranking banker.
      try more like .5 to 1.2 %

If you're talking a normal savings account you can easily be this low, but if you're invested in the market in stocks and bonds, it shouldn't be that hard to get 5-6%.
My portfolio did something like 15% last year.

I built a mediawiki server on CentOS a few weeks ago - and the boss isn't to thrilled with the wiki look. I'll probably be installing Apache soon and trying again.

As for installing CentOS, it's almost exactly like installing Windows, insert the disk, or in the case of a VM, attach the ISO to the VM, boot and follow the prompts.

    • RE: Would your SMB customers mount a server on their wall?

I've definitely see that to be the more likely case.

I visited an office once to see how their EMR worked. Lucky for them I happened to look at their servers (which were two desktop models sitting on a table in the middle of cubeville). Each server had a failed drive in them. I pointed this out to the office manager and walked out just shaking my head.

I do have a hosted spam filter (appriver).

Why would the offline snapshot be different than an online?

I am an admin, but admins don't have rights to all files. There are reasons to have an admin's rights removed from a file. How would you migrate those files? take ownership?

Admins do have rights, just not rights at all times. There is a difference between blocking and unblocking yourself and not having rights at all. The /b flag tells it to act like backup software. Obviously all backup software has to do the same thing - copy files to which it is not given explicit ownership and can only act as an administrator. So Robocopy just acts as backup software in that instance.

Perfect, I was hoping you'd say that. I knew the backup process could get around this, glad to know Robocopy can use it.

@roguepacket Definitely appears to be the case.

I did a test today, setup a WIn 7 machine with IE 10 (a fully supported setup by the vendor) and we have the same display problem. With a little luck they will finally give me some help to solve this problem.

How safe is rolling back Exchange? I know pre 2012 you don't do that to AD servers, haven't read anything on Exchange.

As the title says I need to upgrade from no SPs to SP3. Anyone else do this?

This is a single server Exchange setup, no DAG. All roles on one box.

it's quite interesting that these "tech" companies are so over-valued. I mean look at the Candy Crush makers ipo today, valued at 7 billion, stock prices when down shortly after they become available and they are down 10 percent already. I am not sure i understand why a company that is so small issued 15 million shares of stock for such a high rate when it only has a single product to sell. Its a fad that these companies are riding for a single product line. This is not sustainable by any measure.

Why not, if they can get idiot investors to buy their stock and they tank tomorrow - They'll have drained the company of all cash and let the company (and the stocker holder) be left holding the bag.

    • RE: Discussion - The Financial Impact IT has on Today's Businesses

Regarding other posts of @scottalanmiller I like the idea of getting a company to have a computer vision, be it Windows, Linux, Mac, etc. Granted it most likely won't be just one, but having them commit to all that comes with the decision of the platform they choose.

I'm just not sure how you go about convincing management that because they decided to run their business on Let's say, Windows 7 3 years ago, this means that they need to keep this vision alive by moving forward with versions of Windows (probably every other version at the minimum) along with a probable expectation of replacing desktops every 5-7 years and the same for servers.

Additionally, if they are going to have servers, where are the priorities in regards to maintenance?
