      @scottalanmiller said:

Depends on your needs but typically N. The cost is too much lower and almost no one has a need for AC yet. But those that do, it may be worth it.

At a price differents of $50 per AC AP? Wouldn't it make sense to step on up to the newer tech? Especially if you are planning to lease the equipment for 3 - 5 years?

I usually carry my Phone (Note 3) everywhere I go... and my Laptop (17" Acer) will stay behind in the Hotels.

I love my surface pro 3 and my MacBook pro and my ipad I have a hard time deciding what to take with me 😛

Just pick one. You can do everything with any of those devices.

IRJ has a point, lol. Pick the smallest one that gets you the best balance of size and battery life. If it were me, I'd probably wind up taking the Surface Pro 3. 🙂

I am chasing down video performance issues in a Hyper-V VDI Setup (2012R2, Windows 8.1 Enterprise) with RemoteFX.

If boss would let me have at the other server, I'd run Windows Server 10 and Win 10 Client on it to see if some of my isues go away.

My machine came back online. At this point, a bit of down time doesn't matter too much to me since the machine did get migrated over to pro and rebuilt.... This is just a personal toy for now.

@scottalanmiller Ha ha ha. Nice Catch. It was actually 10TB, not that anybody could ever use that much unless you are doing some big data... of course... 250GB isn't really "big data" these days.

I just took some time to poke around while my CAC machine wasn't cooperating. It is back up and all happy now.

And yeah, I'd pay $16 a month for a 10 year old desktop hosted somewhere else... if^H^H when it breaks, i don't have to worry about fixing it myself, lol. It's not like I need anything with 10 cores, etc, etc. At least not right now.

Trying to decide if I want to go with an OpenVZ VPS from ZappieHost (4 Core, 2GB RAM, 100GB disk) or Joe's Data Center that is offering a Dedicated 2 Core / 2GB RAM / 250GB system (http://joesdatacenter.com/dedicated-server-packages (looking at the AMD under clearance sale) for $16 a month, lol.

Both include 10GB transfer and a static ip...

Checking out a VPS Provider web site that I just stumbled across... http://lowendbox.com/ ... They have a lot of providers and such. I haven't picked one out yet, but the prices are extremely reasonable and the reps for the sites represented appear to be quite active on the site.

I'm giving this service one more chance before I write it off... I deleted the VM and started another install on the new CloudPro service at 10:28AM (EST).

This will be my 3rd attempt since Friday.

@scottalanmiller What is your secret? Which eyes / toes/ fingers are you crossing? Or does Jupiter have to be at a perfect 90 degree angle to Saturn?

Any other planetary alignments necessary? I've let both of my attempts run for several hours with nothing at all happening.

Does it do anything? Or is it a marketing button?

I should have thought to check it... but I was actually just waiting around for my system to come back up so I could make backups.

I had a blip in the panel, but I can also confirm that Re-Image has been replaced with upgrade hardware.

When the panel is working, I DO still have access to power on / off.

      I'm back online as well.

I won't hold this against them... I have seen and been part of (both the cause and on the repair team) network issues like this (although at a much smaller scale). I just signed up about halfway through April for one of the Dev 2 instances, I think.

Stuff does happen, but if they have failover links, then everything should fail over, or they should make it apparent in the feature list on the pricing page that the Dev & Big Dog instances are not part of the failover links if that is the way they want to go.

I've always wanted to do that. Running a cloud host sounds like fun. It probably is not in any way. LOL Just like it sounds fun to own a datacenter, but the reality is... it sucks. None of those servers are yours. You don't get to do fun things with them. They have to sit there and chug away at customer workloads and you just keep them running.

Right... but if the customers are paying and your servers are working... you get paid to do nothing, but keep them running... which if you are using new servers and have things configured correctly, that should not be too big of a problem for at least a year or two.
