    • RE: Aetherstore, looks amazing, what about...

@Breffni-Potter Not too terribly derailed. We were concerned withouw Aetherstore would work over 10/100 Networks... and somebody brought up the recommendation of an upgrade... that would definitely improve Aetherstore's performance.

I'm going to say Aetherstore one more time in this post... just because.

@thecreativeone91 I got my CCNA... and the first network admin job I had had 1 Cisco router when I started... but we wound up going with HP Switches because they were more affordable at the time than the Cisco switches. We never looked back!

If I build a new network, unless there is some requirement for Cisco, then I'd build the network with HP from the ground up and not bat an eye.

@Breffni-Potter -- That really irked me when we did our last refresh. The switches went from 50 ports down to 48, lol. It didn't mess us up anywhere, but that was still aggravating!

I wonder how this would do (or even if it could be set up) as shared storage or CSVs for a windows failover cluster.

I've seen and heard about Aetherstore for a a while. It is very interesting what they are doing with it. Oddly enough, it seems eerily similar to a program from years ago called Medley 97 (which shared storage, as well as CPU and RAM between machines in a local network).

I'm glad to see things like this making their way back into modern times.

@JaredBusch Wow... I must have went through the purchase page with my eyes closed or something. Admittedly, the extra space was an afterthought after the intitial purchase. I don't need it at the moment -- I was just wondering if it was available when I got to the point where I did need it.

    • RE: I hide Easter eggs for Passover and accuse the Easter Bunny of being an antisemite

No antisemite bunnies or bulls around here. We wound up having about 30 people over at a family member's house. It was actually quite nice because I just moved back into the area and going to see family like that is no longer a chore, but actually quite fun!

We did, however, have several children (read infant to toddler) who were quite certain we hid easter eggs in the bottom of the swimming pool. Needless to say lots of hilarity, splashing, and wailling & gnashing of teeth ensued. It was a blast -- I can't wait to do it again.

My home church does an Easter service every year at a place with a big auditorium. My Pops usually runs cameras for the normal church services, so I help him out for the specials and whenever he needs more tha none camera. Boy, our pastor was hopping around like a mad jackrabbit yesterday morning!

One last question before everybody gets busy with Eaaster stuff (well, okay a little late, I admit...)... Can I purchase extra space with the Cloud At Cost folks?

No big plans here. Going to hang out with family on Saturday and help Pops run cameras for the church on Easter Sunday.

@scottalanmiller As you mentioned a little bit ago... build a SAM-SD and add OwnCloud. 8-)

    • RE: Massive Storage Need for Video Project

I have actually used ownCloud for file Syncing and such. It really does work really well. The sky is the limit as far as what you can store and all that fun stuff. Syncing your files with a bad upload connection will be the biggest problem, no matter what option you go with...

Also, would something like BackBlaze work? Better warn them up front what you are doing, lol.

I was actually paying a little attention. I got the Dev 3 plan that's listed as $140 on the Web Site. I paid through Paypal and was only charged $70.

      So it's all good. 8-)
