I've been a bit of a ghost around here myself as of late. My work day has been crammed full of actual work and no time for jabbering on here. It has been fun, but exhausting!

Could probably still find an error like that ilon Windows 10, lol
You'd most likely see it after a major windows update, lol.

Hours of ticket triage.
As soon as I finished a Ticket another one sprouted from the same call. The dreaded , " while I have you on the phone...."
Hopefully it wasn't followed by "this should only take a minute..."

just walked in. just want to walk straight back out.
I feel your pain today. Even home is not safe for me.... I'd be happy with a full tank of gas in my truck, a 1500 watt power inverter that runs off a cigarette lighter, and an empty parking lot in the middle of nowhere right now. It's just been one of those weeks... and it's only Tuesday.
that doesn't sound like a great week.
you've piqued my interest. what would you do with a full tank of gas, an invertor & a parking lot??I should have specified an abandoned parking lot, lol. I would have locked myself in the truck and played on my laptop for a day or three, bio breaks not withstanding.
Oddly enough, I'm having a significantly better day today than I had since Thursday of last week. Earlier during the week, my roof sprung a leak in a NEW place. Thursday, Washing machine died, Friday, wife got sick. Cousin came up to help me another leak, and we wound up having to tear off that 20 x 10 section of house down to the trusses. and then rebuild it back to good again. (It's being tested today, lol. No leaks, so far!) So we fixed two leaks over Saturday and Sunday. We found another section (on the other side of this A frame) that needs to be ripped & replaced, meaning I gotta find another $500 for materials to fix a section of roof he found while we were fixing the other two leaks.
My Day job has been a PITA. I took Monday off to clean up some of the construction, take kiddo to doctor, and fix Washing Machine. Tuesday, work was a PITA from me being off on Monday and general stupidness happening all over the place. Today, I'm home with sick kiddo. If there's a male version of PMS, I was definitely suffering from the last few days, lol.

Any device that claims to be a 1500 watt inverter will not provide 1500 watts through a cigarette lighter power port. You could make one, and have a nice vehicle fire to go along with it.
Maybe 1500 watt is overkill. I just need one to power my phone and laptop, lol.

Have been told 4 times today on cold calls : "It's not the right business move to open up for takeout only at a dine in, bar and grill. it's just not even worth the hassle for you or us. We'll just close for 6 weeks min. and hope for the best. appreciate what you're trying to do."
There's literally nothing I can say to that except : Well, if your boss changes their mind and you're interested. let me know, At the very least take a look at what they are offering , maybe you can save the server who is also a single parent.. from worrying about what her kids going to eat during this time..Yeah. We have several friends in that situation now.

Currently trying to find a gaming PC for $1200 or less (I will probably go over a little). I'm not a gamer so a little out of my depth.
Based on my past readings through old posts here to get a sense of what is out there, just wondering what order the money should be spent, 1. CPU, 2. GPU, 3. RAM, 4 SSD or SATA or should it be 1. GPU, 2 CPU, 3 SSD, 4 RAM?
When spec'ing a new desktop what do you look at first to spend your money?
I like your first order mostly... I go:
- GPU
- RAM
- CPU
- STORAGE

@JaredBusch Yes, everyone has a cell. My thoughts were if I am going to set it up, it may as well get used. My parents still have a house phone as cell service isn't great.
One reason for me was to have an IP phone in my shop as well as the house. I have this now as an "intercom" of sorts. I can get called from the house and get my cheap Grandstream phone dirty and not care.
Definitely not a "must have". Figured if I set up a new lab instance in Vultr, I may as well actually use it.
Its how i call my dad still. In fact everyone. I cant hear people on cell calls.
Need to get you one of those cell phones for old people with some extra oomph in the speaker department.... that, or a set of hearing aids. Amplify All the sounds!
and then you can turn the hearing aid completely off when you're tired of people.
This works equally well with my implant, ha ha!

RE: What Are You Doing Right Now
Had fun issues the last week... My internet goes down so I call the cable guy. he's out checking his lines and gets zapped while checking his cable. He does some digging and it turns out that the ground line they use (connects between power meter and their cable box) was carrying so much voltage that it actually melted the connector for my internet connection!
So the cable guy (of course) blames something in the house or the power meter for the issue and disconnects the ground line. Not 5 minutes after he leaves, the power all over my house goes absolutely berserk. Lights are dim, but if I run the Microwave they get super bright, blew 3 light bulbs in one room... just craziness.
So I call my electrician (my Pops) and he comes up does some testing. Turns out there's nearly 80 volts on that ground line (that's now not hooked to anything!). So we check inside the house. There's usually two legs of power that come into the house... Each of them should be 110V at the fuse box / circuit breaker. I was getting 110V on one side, and 80V on the other.
Called the Power Company and they showed up literally 3 hours later and hooked up a line conditioner to the house. Turns out they have to pull a new power line to the house because the one currently powering us is old and has "developed issues".
So now with the line conditioner in place, all the gremlins are gone... for now.

About to fire up some Elite Dangerous.
I've been seriously ADD the last couple of days with the games I've been playing. I've played Final Fantasy 6, Final Fantasy 9, Elder Scrolls: Oblivion, Doom (the new one), Killing Floor 2, The Forrest, Outcast: Second Contact, and Vector.
Can't seem to get settled into a Rhythm on anything.

I so want all 3 installments of the Final Fantasy 7 remake already. I've got the original, but haven't played it in years now.
I'm (impatiently) waiting fro the PC release, lol. I might would buy it if it came to Xbox One.
