They should of bit the bullet and dug up the uk streets years ago and just laid the fibre, instead BT have only put fibre to the cabinet at the end of the street....people want full fibre to the home now...not half copper and fibre....

Guy sentenced to jail after pleady to making 28000 copies of Windows install disks as backups for secondary device sale.
Wow. Copying free disks of zero value and go to jail. Only in America.
Lesson... avoid Windows!!
Does seem pretty mad, he wasn't using cracked copies or using dodgy keys, seems completely waste of court time and waste of money, especially when there a lot more things to worry about in the U.S....

Mine went down too. So an old MS Concierge person that connected O365 to AD 2 years ago that was"disconnected" ... wasn't.
We are both back up now. WHAT A FREAKING PAIN!
So were any of the accounts using AD SYnchronization by any chance?
Yeah and we deleted some workloads on Azure today I will let you guess what one of them was...
So user caused issue.
Did no one check that AD sync was still active?
Well The Concierge person did something funky back then (remember scott's issues from way way back?), and we thought that the disconnection was done. But they had to repair things on their side still for both our accounts (I didn't have issues last time but I did today), but no one else on the team did. So weird.
Well, I didn't say you caused the issue.
Failure to verify, but something that should not have needed to be verified.
Same issue I had with a Dell tech that replaced a drive and rebuilt an array for me 5 years ago. I found out 2 years ago that he rebuilt it as a RAID0 .......
Lmao!
...I don't have anything constructive to say. That's just funny as shit.
Trust, but verify....
RAID0 though. I am at a loss for words.
There are many worst things like not having backups

Who needs backups when you have RAID... backups are overrated.
Be careful saying that, some people will believe that lol...

RE: Coffee may cause cancer...posted in News
Everything does, Even a lot of the food they believe causes it now. A lot of animals now get pumped with growth hormones to make them grow quicker/gain weight. It is crazy to think that people are playing with food in this way...
But in other news, you could get hit by a car walking outside of your front door, just enjoy life to the max I say....

We are approaching a time when Linux/FOSS is being used more and more in business and we will no longer have to rely on Microsoft, which I think is great. I find you can get great support for products as they are mostly community based as well.
@scottalanmiller - Out of interest, how many Mailboxes do you use within Zimbra? and do you just use a single server install?

That was brilliant, how mad them rockets landing back down where they wanted. Normally the rockets are destroyed on re-entry??
NOt for SpaceX. They have been landing them for years now.
I wasn't aware of this to be fair, don't normally follow, but still amazing to say the least, should imagine they can do more flights saving the rockets.

This project looks so promising for previous xenserver users.
Be great to see an option to import xen-orchestra built into the project, wherever that imports the VM for you or installs on the host itself.

RE: Remote Control Softwareposted in IT Discussion
If he doesn't like spending, then I can't imagine he will spend the money on Screen Connect.
And they having to travel to different sites because they have no remote software? That's pretty crappy...
-
RE: Remote Control Softwareposted in IT Discussion
@coliver It does work well, I personally use Screen Connect though before it got brought out by ConnectWise
-
RE: Remote Control Softwareposted in IT Discussion
Screen Connect Self Host licence is now: $2,195, but does include use for 3 Technicians.
-
RE: Remote Control Softwareposted in IT Discussion
ScreenConnect is good, but wow their pricing is crazy now especially if you want to purchase the software out right.
Remote utilities have a lifetime licence for unlimited computers for $499, might be something more you're looking for?

RE: Miscellaneous Tech Newsposted in News
@dashrender That is very true, I believe Germany went back due to Microsoft offering them lower licence costs, probably will see other countries try this..
