RE: What was your first PC?
@danp Wasn't the machine named after Steve's daughter, I'm sure I see that in a documentary.

RE: What was your first PC?
I see the T-99 mentioned a few times, was this machine only available in the states?

RE: What was your first PC?
@scottalanmiller I never got to try an Apple mac when I was younger, were they just as expensive back then?
I remember my friend had the Atari ST, never tried the Amiga.

What was your first PC?
I was 8 years old when my uncle worked for a company in london, he got me my first computer which had a 8086 processor, this machine is the one that got me interested in computers.
I remember this great huge brick having a big orange switch on the side. He also gave me loads of 5.25 inch floppy's. this is where I first learned how to use ms-dos, which was version 3.3 I believe, I got hooked on the gwbasic that was included with the O.S.
I then moved up to a 386sx/25mhz, wow! this one had 3.5" floopy drive.which had msdos 6.2 and windows 3.1, there were a considerable amount of disks just to install Dos. Back then I remember I had a thing about formatting and reinstalling dos and windows, and friends started to get me to reinstall theirs lol.
and after that I believe I had an olivetti 486dx2/66mhz with about 8mb of ram, I had ms-dos and windows 3.1 on this machine to begin with, until I got my first windows 95 CD
wow, windows 95 was the bomb! and it even had some dodgy music video included lol.
and that was my history of my first computers.

RE: What was your first Linux/Unix distro?
Ubuntu 6.06 was the first main distribution I used, at the time I was running a computer shop and installed it on a few cheap machines we sold that didn't have windows licences, It worked great. I remember I ordered a load of cd's from canonical which had the printed case and cd which I gave away free to customers to try, I did use other linux distro's as well for file and password recovery of windows machines, I couldn't tell you what they were though because I can't remember.
These days I'm quite a fan of Ubuntu Server Edition and for GUI i'm quite a fan of Deepin.

RE: SW rant time
these are two statements for GDPR Policy:
"Anyone who collects and processes personal data (defined by the GDPR as a Data Controller) will be required to comply with the new regulations to a certain degree. As well as organisations who run websites or apps, this also includes any organisations who use internal databases, CRMs or even just plain old email."
"The short answer is that if your company does any form of trade with customers within the EU, then GDPR rules will apply to you if you store, process or share EU citizens’ personal data."

@rcuadra will you be incorporating different templates for various phone manufacturers like snom? I did not see these when I tried the pbx

RE: Microsoft Abandons Windows 10 Mobile
It was never popular compared to iOS and Android, they should of killed it off a lot earlier.
Hopefully they will focus on making Windows 10 better for desktop and tablet and sort out the crappy start menu, still not as good as the win7 start menu was. -
RE: New web site
@tim_g I agree, defiantly worth doing it this way as well, there are so many html5 responsive templates out there at not much cost at all, even some free.

RE: New web site
If you are not going to be updating the website to often, don't go dynamic with a cms system like WordPress, good old html site is safer and don't have to worry about updating plugins etc.
