The first computer I remember was my Dad's 286... The first one I had was a 486 with math coprocessor and 4MB of RAM (it was a hand me down)

Yea, terminated has a bad connotation to it... i know i immediately equate it to "fired"

RE: What is the Upside to VMware to the SMB?
What turned me off almost immediately from VMWare when I first started virtualization, was the confusing licensing. It wasn't explained well, and i couldn't figure out what I really needed (its better now). But that and the pricing was what led me to use Hyper-V.

RE: Exchange out of office reply
@BBigford WHen I have to do it, I grant myself access to the mailbox, log into owa with my account, then switch mailbox's, set the OOF, then remove my permissions from the mailbox.

@coliver On the fullscale image you can barely see the orbits of the planets in the glow of the sun.

@DustinB3403 Thanks for your help! NFS is case sententive, it is mounted now!
Everything outside of the Windows and DOS worlds is case sensitive. SMB, NFS, URLs, file names, passwords, usernames, everything.
Thats what bugs me about Linux ... I hate case sensitive things.
I'm the opposite, I can't stand that DOS can't tell two characters apart and has "close enough" syntax so that people become sloppy and begin to lose the concept of congruency. I remember dealing with a bunch of students and getting them to understand things like "This", "this" and "t h I s" were not congruent was a real problem. Windows teachers users that exact doesn't mean exact, not always.
I think that is why I like cisco's ios software... i don't have to type the full command... just enough to distinguish it from the other commands available.... I see the benefits of case sensitive, it just will take me a bit to get used to using it as I learn Linux.

RE: providers for phone line & internet
I have had nothing but problems with a client that is on ATT's fiber Internet service... impossible to get support, once you do get ahold of someone it is days before they resolve issues.

RE: Non-IT News Thread
I read that on another news story about it somewhere else...

RE: Non-IT News Thread
@Dashrender It would pretty much have to be... a planet the size they are suggesting can't form that far out (assuming theories are correct on how planets form), which means it formed closer and gravity from another star passing by most likely flung it out that far and changed its plane.

RE: Non-IT News Thread
It will be interesting to see if they actually find it.
-
RE: Non-IT News Thread
Of course it may not exist at all... the models they ran are explaining what may be affecting orbits of smaller objects from the kuiper belt.

RE: Non-IT News Thread
@scottalanmiller The data suggests an eliptical orbit of ranging from 200AU at the periapsis and and up to 1200AU at apoapsis. Neptune averages 30AU from the sun.
-
RE: Non-IT News Thread
@scottalanmiller I think it has to do with how far out it is.... its estimate closest point to the sun is 5x further out then pluto.

Researchers at Caltech find evidence that suggests ninth planet in our solar system (10th if you still count pluto)

Not if you use it for your local library. Or want to use iTunes Music.
Not basic things. Weird, convoluted DRM music from Apple. Remember, basic here, why would a basic user do that?
iTunes hasn't had DRM'd music in almost 7 years.... now movies, that is another issue.
