Glad I never purchased any Meraki equipment. I demoed some then saw the recurring fee and decided against it.

RE: FQDN not Resolving
I thought common practice now was to use rds gateway so you only open port 443 and everything is passed through it.

RE: Linksys Embraces DD-WRT
The reasons I got my own, no monthly rental fees, and they always push their combo modem routers. Those suck.

RE: Everything That There Is To Know About VDI Licensing with Windows
@Dashrender True... you just need SA if it is a new machine.

RE: Everything That There Is To Know About VDI Licensing with Windows
From what I read, this is what I remember.
The broad stroke on accessing a VDI desktop is everything is licensed per device, not per user or not per machine.
The two per device licensing models are VDA, or Windows Upgrade VL + Software Assurance.

RE: IPv6 Usage Expected to Grow in 2016
@Dashrender Here is the generalized spreadsheet I put together, once I'm assigned the /48 block from the ISP I fill it in and it auto populates everywhere else on the spreadsheet.

RE: IPv6 Usage Expected to Grow in 2016
@Dashrender at home I had an IPV4 to V6 tunnel and set up a bunch of stuff on IPV6.
I actually have a spreadsheet planned out for my work environment of how it will be implemented.

RE: IPv6 Usage Expected to Grow in 2016
I don't think my ISP provides IPv6 addresses yet.

FYI my account is now in moderation, because I'm being honest, trying to have a adult conversation about the topic at hand.
I've had posts moderated in the water cooler section... really there doesn't need to be a moderator for that section... i think someone was just on a power trip.

Wow Dan Bilzerian bought $100k worth of Powerball tickets. See here. 1 of the winning tickets is near where he lives.
So he bought 50,000 PB tickets... that brought his odds of winnning up to 2.2%

RE: What Are You Doing Right Now
I made plenty of these "vendor for advice" mistakes in the past before I became involved in the forums. Most notably in my career was a Sales Company disguised as an MSP (MSP is a Cisco/VmWare reseller) and now I have a Cisco Phone System which was expensive and hard to maintain.
I'm looking at options to replace it currently, most likely freePBX need to turn up a test VM and see about getting the Cisco phones working with it.

@scottalanmiller The only time I think I would consider using it would be if I had a remote office that had a metered connection (satellite) or very low bandwidth available.
Even then I would only do it exclusively in a company that sends a lot more email internally rather than externally and that would probably be a big company and that would likely mean that we just need to fix the Internet situation.
I was still talking about WSUS.

RE: Partitions For Hyper-V Server
@coliver I thought about doing it on servers I put out this summer, but never tested it to try it out. I just created a small virtual disk off my raid controller for hyperv.
