    • RE: Yealink T58V and Video Calling

So the issue appears to be with FreePBX's GUI not offering video codec settings in the web interface for PJSIP.

I was able to set it on each extension as per the comments in this bug report...

      https://issues.freepbx.org/browse/FREEPBX-11577

And you have to set it as: h264,ulaw,alaw under allowed codes under Advanced in each setting.

Now I am trying to figure out if I can get phones on the same remote LAN to send RTP streams direct (phone to phone) so that the video doesn't freeze up. It's really more of a gimick I think (the video calling). Seems like it would be annoying to have people peeking in at you over intercom all day.

But still, I would like to figure out how to get the direct RTP stream going. This can be done in Freeswitch so I imagine Asterisk will do it. Not sure the GUI would have a setting for it though.

    • RE: I am going to start an ISP

@dashrender said in I am going to start an ISP:

@nerdydad said in I am going to start an ISP:

After thinking it over the weekend, I think I'm going to stick with Wifi, because other companies using "wireless" gives the connotations of a cell phone company.

      Examples:
      "Verizon Wireless"
      "AT&T Wireless"
      "Sprint Wireless"

In this company, I am still using wifi technologies (IEEE 802.11ac technologies to be exact) in order to operate this company. Therefore, the "wifi" is staying. This may take some customer re-education but I do believe that it is an important differentiator to make.

Interesting - I've never used a WISP before, I just assumed the communications to the tower was something other than typical WiFi frequencies.

How does using WiFi like this affect network saturation in an area?

Frequencies are licensed at millions of dollars per year. The only WISP I have ever known to have done this is Clearwire, who's parent company technically owned the spectrum.

In the white space you are just competing with local HAM guys. Newer gear allows the multiplexing of multiple CPE's on a single frequency. I think even UBNT has done this for a while. So that generally solves the problem.

Bigger issue is always weather moving CPE around. If you use the best mounting gear its less frequent.

There are plenty of WISPS that offer dedicated internet and charge premium prices i.e. 100mb up/down for $2,000 per month with a financially backed SLA.

Who's with me? No matter what side of the aisle you are on, it seems that America could use a real leader. I can already see the ticket now.

      Miller / Busch for President

      Who would vote for that?

Why not... politics are no longer a background requirement for presidency.

Yeah but no matter what side of the isle you're on that's also a "thank god"

    • RE: Notorious Short-seller labels Ubiquiti Networks $UBNT as FRAUD

@scottalanmiller said in Notorious Short-seller labels Ubiquiti Networks $UBNT as FRAUD:

Honestly it's Citron that looks like fraud. That article is straight out of Facebook "You'll be shocked to learn what happened next...." land. It's red flags of false journalism all over it.

Do they make a point? Not one that I saw. Basically they sound jealous. Their complaints are that UBNT is doing well and they don't like the CEO. They don't complain about anything real. Just words used and the success numbers. And Citron goes on and on about how they expose more fraud than anyone. They sound like Donald Trump writing Facebook ad copy.

I agree but almost anything legit in wallstreet has this feel. Andrew Left has been on CNBC and has been right in the past. I think with some issue with the way some drug companies inflated sales.

However, after watching the video, he clearly is wrong about the way the community works. While there are definitely not 4 million ACTIVE community members we are all big fans of UBNT and I see it regularly recommended, particularly over Netgear. And yes, UBNT makes Netgear look like idiots.

Still this insane camera on a necklace thing smacks of dissolution and perhaps a grasping at straws for a miracle product to fix hidden woes.

    • RE: Post Your Throwback IT Pics

Literally everything on the 16th floor of the Mead HQ (before many mergers and acquisitions)

A company would come in with 9 cases full of tape backups, from Backup Exec software. Backup tapes were changed by a team of 4 across the hallway around the clock, 7 days a week and moved off site, then back onsite for re-use.

Makes no sense. The ML team is pretty transparent about advertising their business, just see the banner ads to your right. OP is clearly a disgruntled troll.

There is no sign-up form so there is no argument about self promotion. Even if they were partners in something and not mentioning their participation they are probably losing business and so there is still no scandal.
