LAMP replication to DR siteposted in IT Discussion
What would be the best option to replicate a LAMP server to a DR location. I got a request to setup this . RPO of 24 hour RTO of 1 hour. I am thinking of using rsync, that takes care of the webserver part. While looking at Mysql replication, i read this one https://www.percona.com/blog/2010/07/31/why-you-cant-rely-on-a-replica-for-disaster-recovery/
Suggestions please

Ok, so rsync for the files+mysqldump and rsync that too. So just save the mysqldumps on dr location and when something happens, just restore the last backup and bring the server live?

RE: LAMP replication to DR siteposted in IT Discussion
How about setup MySQL replication to remote site and then enable MySQLdump local backup on the DR site as well with increased frequency than daily ( may be twice a day). This way we have an up to date/latest copy and in case let's say there was a drop table command on master, and primary site failed, I can still switch to secondary, use the latest mysql backup to restore and make it up and running.

My Surface Pro 4 had dead pixels. Gave it to the shop from where i purchased as it is still under warranty. After almost a week, they replied saying that issue can't be fixed and i got a new Surface Pro 4 as replacement!

RE: LastPass Replacement?posted in IT Discussion
I've been using 1Password for almost 5 years now. Have it on my MAC, Windows, idevices and Android. Recently they did an upgrade on Android version and all works really well with dropbox for syncing and is secured with the master password.

Anyone know about six sigma?posted in IT Discussion
Was looking at a job opening at Johnson & Johnson and during the questionnaire, there is a question " Please describe your experience applying six sigma and lean methods to service organizations"
Heard vaguely about six sigma/lean etc but never bothered to look at it or not even aware that these applies to IT. Curious to know about it, checked on google to find the details:
https://www.isixsigma.com/industries/software-it/six-sigma-information-technology-services-sector/
Anyone knows about this and how does it help apart from these articles; i mean the practical use case?

RE: ASO alternativeposted in IT Discussion
Should be fine now, there was W3 cache initially there which got disabled after the site migration. It is accessible from multiple locations.
