@alexntg nope. No idea where one would be. Where would I be likely to come across one?

For you, The Westchester in White Plains or the Danbury Fair Mall

Caffeine hangover! I suppose that if someone's going to have a substance abuse issue, this one isn't such a bad one to have.

Yeah, so that got hijacked. What about softphones again? I've yet to use one I like, but I'm curious to see if I've just missed out on a decent one somewhere.

I don't "like" any of them, the interfaces are always SO cheesy and poor. But the sound quality and functionality that I get on LinPhone has been top notch.

Linphone as of late hasn't been letting me transfer. It also lacks letters on the keypad, so if I get to a dial by name directory, I'm dead in the water.

@alexntg Gotta keep a good eye on my budget. Really depends on the price of the train and staying a night in the city.

Quite understandable. I'm on the fence at the moment. I'd hate to lose a possibly fun Sunday there, but at the same time don't want to waste money on a hotel for no reason.

      @Bill-Kindle
That's a good question. None that I'm aware of. However, I typically have a single share with multiple hosts connected to that one share.

Nope wish we could but have things I am scheduled for on Sunday (Both Art and I are on worship team and Art has band practice that afternoon).

@FiyaFly, is this your first time in NYC? Could you take a train back the next day?

The current schedule for the meeting is 3pm -5pm (we have to be fully out of the office we are using by 5:30 or so).

      Scott will be speaking
We will have a quick remote presentation by Pertino
Unitrends will be sending some swag!

I am sure there will be some who would like to hang out after, Some of my team will be in the city till around 9pm before we head back to Western NY. Other I have no idea what they are doing. Scott might be free to do something Sunday but I am not sure.

You folks aren't staying the night?

That's a pretty good piece of mind for $6k annually.

Not for the current clients I have, that is too much. The 1k price is solidly acceptable. the 3k would be a big maybe but likely not.

I looked down near the bottom line. @NetworkNerd , unless I'm missing something, the entry level one's manual reporting?

    • RE: Softphones

Lync's a good softphone (when connected to a quality Lync server deployment).

The Cisco IP Communicator's decent, though the interface tries to emulate a phone's appearance. I've had good luck with it using skinny, but haven't tried SIP.

I use it pretty regularly. I participate in a couple groups, and am an admin for the Spiceworks Users' group. I do use it as a living semi-resume, but only deal with that end of it periodically. It serves as a tickler for anyone that may be interested. It doesn't tell the whole story, though.

Sorry, I missed the main point of the post. I got caught up in thinking that the title would be the most adorable thing to say if dating a felllow geek. Is Creative still putting out good products? I know they're still in business, but the last sound card I bought was a Creative SB16 ISA card.

@JaredBusch That's a really good rate for staying in the 5 Boroughs. Elmhurst is kind of out of the way as far as Queens in concerned. You'll have to cross to NYC bridges to get there, traveling form the west. (GWB? Queensboro?) The bridges can get spendy in terms of tolls. Make sure you get a subway pass if it's near a subway stop. ("near" = 10 blocks or so)

Thankfully, he's flying now, so the GWB shouldn't be an issue.
