New plan. I'm going to destroy the entire RAID array again, and recreate. This time, I'm going to do a full initialization. Previously, I just did a "fast initialization." with 4 3 TB drives, this should take about 1.5 years to complete.

@aaronstuder I've always found that FPBX takes up a lot of memory with all the added modules. What do you disable/change to keep memory usage so low?

@scottalanmiller OK, well at least I'm not going crazy. I've been searching for a way to do it but haven't found anything. That sucks, the code formatting on this forum rocks.

@DustinB3403 It can be bad stuff. Number 1 cause of drownings worldwide.

Dang.... is it me or is Vultr just killing it lately.
https://www.vultr.com/news/Holiday-Gifts-2021-Recap-and-Last-Minute-LaunchesLooks like they will also offer dedicated servers with ESXi on them.

Dihydrogen Monoxide mixed in both liquid & solid forms.
I was not aware of this thing! I'm impressed, especially considering its involvement with younger people.
Is this localized in USA or is this already spread worldwide?!...just informed my wife: I'm concerned about my daughter, which can be exposed to this at school when we can't control it!
help me spread this on social media, pls!
It's already worldwide. It's basically an epidemic. So sad for the younger generation.

Ah, pre-built with log4j access enabled then?
Yes, it's included for free!
No extra cost to you. -

@BRRABill Exactly. It's the sleep part that isn't good while trying to get stuff done.

@EddieJennings Agreed. It's not the editor of choice, but for simple edits, I need to remember like 4-5 "commands."

RE: Miscellaneous Tech Newsposted in News
@dafyre So my main ISP (a local provider who has historically been fantastic) is just cable. They are rolling out fiber "soon" but cant give me a date. So, against my gut feeling, I decided to give Frontier fiber a try. They just rolled it out in our neighborhood. $40 for 500/500 with no contract. I figured I'll give it a try and see what happens. I kept my old ISP for now and just lowered my speed I am now paying the same monthly cost as I was before for 2 ISPs, doing failover on my edge router. If Frontier fiber proves to be stable, I'll ditch the old ISP.

So next steps this weekend is:
Try the install again on a disk by itself. If that works, Then try it on another set of disks in a Raid 1 array. Then go from there.

Setting up a new speaker. This is going into a super loud environment. It's capable of 120dB. Needless to say, testing the max volume in an office is not advisable.

Plus I just got fiber to my house, so I can download all my stuff from Amazon pretty quick. </BragsAboutFiberToEveryoneHeKnowsEvenPeopleWhoDontCare> (Wife rolls eyes)

To confirm volume quality I think you should hide the speaker under a co-workers desk and randomly spot test it.
Excellent idea. There is a built in "ringer" of dogs barking. It would scare the crap out of someone for sure.

By the way, I upgraded to the latest stable, and it's working great so far. Happy about that!

DNS Hosting - Advantages/disadvantagesposted in IT Discussion
So this post is meant to gather the advantages/disadvantages of hosting your own public DNS server VS using a third party host like Cloudflare, or a domain registrar, etc. Specific details below.
Client hosts a few websites and other services in the cloud (azure, Vultr, etc) These services are 100% relying on a working DNS name for each service. (just like any website of course) You can either point your domain DNS to your own DNS server, or use another service.
I already know my answer, but I'd like to get some discussion going about this as to why one would choose one over the other. I know there are still people who host their own public DNS for some reason. (single point of failure)
Go!

Reading through Unix and Linux System Administration handbook while enjoying some beers. Sometimes, a well written tech book instead of Google is a nice change.
