Back to reality
Post conference withdrawal.
Playing catch up after the conference. It isn't as fun as the conference.

RE: Xen Orchestra SMB Remote problem
@fuznutz04 To clarify, I followed the original post, which used Scott's script, not the manual instructions further down in the post.

I think this is the only way. Gotta start with the whole production. Otherwise you get some moron that burns the beans and makes it terrible (aka Starsomethingorother).
Oh, you mean that place that makes the coffee taste like your drinking burned cardboard?

Edge switches VS Ubiquiti switches VS other
What is the general consensus for EdgeSwitch VS the Ubiquiti Switches VS other switches such as a HP Procurve or Dell.
I use Edge Routers and have had zero problems, and am now looking at trying out one of their switches. Needs to have PoE capability. Small office, 10 people.
The EdgeSwitch seems great LINK
But there is also the Unifi line as well. LINKThen of course there are the other big players such as HP and Dell, but dollar for dollar, I bet the Ubiquiti stuff works just fine at a fraction of the cost.

I'm sitting around waiting for the FiOS man to arrive.

One selling point of the Unifi series is the built in Unifi controller for the WIFI units.

Edge Router Lite & Smart Queues
Has anyone used the "Smart Queue" feature on EdgeOS? I have a client with a 50/5 connection, and they are getting some VoIP phones, going to a cloud based PBX. There are no VLANs, and I just want to ensure VoIP gets priority over everything else.
The latest firmware on the ERL has Smart Queue and the only parameters are download and upload, and which interface to apply these rules to.
How does the Smart Q work? Are you supposed to put in your actual maximum speeds (50/5 in this case) and the ERL takes care of the rest, or something else?

I'm currently re-installing FreePBX because I fumble fingered the gateway address and didn't realize it till I blew away the VM to start over.... are you all sure it's not Monday morning?
Why didn't your cool glasses tell you that you were about to do something wrong?

StatusCake
Just stumbled upon this service. I'm just playing with the free version right now, which does basic availability checks for http, smtp, ssh, tcp, dns, ping, and push. Unlimited number of endpoints and even sends alerts.
It looks like they also offer server monitoring (cpu, memory, etc) as well with the paid plans. But without signing up for paid, you can't see exactly what it does, or how it does it.
Has anyone used them before?

RE: Wordpress on Vultr 768
I "fixed it" by reinstalling. Now I'm in the process of setting up LAMP and then Wordpress again.

RE: Wordpress on Vultr 768
@dafyre Exactly. Didn't want to waste any more time on it, especially since it was still in testing/setup stages.

RE: What Are You Doing Right Now
Setting up some ZeroTier test networks. Finally had some time to play with is. The big win would be if the EdgeRouters have a client, so I could easily use it to bridge networks directly (bridge a ZT network to an Edge Router network)

RE: Wordpress on Vultr 768
So reinstalling CentOS7, then installing the LAMP stack, followed by Wordpress, seems to have solved my issues. No issues like I was having earlier. Also, I have much more available memory than what i had previously. Strange problem.

I think you need a larger Vultr server for better performance. Cloudways super fast managed Vultr hosting servers are one clicked managed. You can get any help from their live chat support.
Why would I pay more for a server that has less resources per dollar than what Vultr offers directly?
I'm legitimately asking the question, as I have done zero research on Cloudways.

Just got done fighting with MariaDB and came out victorious! Take that computer!
Next up, I'm going to help a buddy cut down a tree. Then, grabbing some drinks. At least I think that's the order of events...
