It would be useful to fix my parents computer in a click instead of add/remove programs -> uninstall -> crapware

Otherwise..... meh? More exciting if you're a user I suppose. Good to know about though.

There seems to be three levels now.

Reset - completely wipe windows making it factory'ish fresh
Refresh - removes installed programs, but leaves you data
MS's new tool to remove crapware - how does it know what is or isn't crapware - who knows?

eh? reset but leave files? That's what option 2 is. it basically resets Windows but leaves your personal files on the system.

In Windows 8.x they had the two options listed - Reset and Refresh.

from your picture it looks like they got rid of the names and only have Reset now, but still give you the options with and without keeping your personal files. My guess, they do the exact same thing.

Was reading about this on other sites.

                              As mentioned on this site:
                              https://www.thurrott.com/windows/windows-10/68120/clean-pc-microsofts-refresh-windows-tool-can-help-make-windows-10-crapware-free

"Most Windows 10 users probably know that there is a Reset This PC tool in Settings that lets you reset your PC back to its original, factory condition. But since PC makers can modify the system image used by Reset This PC, the resulting clean install is anything but clean, and will include whatever crapware the PC maker decides to include."

Which is why MS has a new option which just restore OS without any other bloatwares, or in other words it doesn't allow vendors to inject their software on to the refresh os image.

@Ambarishrh Strange. I guess as long as you are upgrading to Win10, it can be used since it does clean off bloatware if the OEM didnt have access to the Win10 image. This worked for me the other day on a HP Laptop. Thanks for the clarification! I didnt know OEMs still got access to the system image even for this option

@Dashrender I wonder why we look different? Did you fresh install or upgrade?
