Municipal for Last Mile Connections

This is interesting. The city is developing a last mile fiber network. However to get out to the internet the customers will pick an ISP that is partnered with the city network. I think this is the future of network access it brings it much closer to being treated as a utility like electricity.

The cable company I worked for in FL used ONT's like those. When set up properly they work pretty well.
I think most of the troubles we had were from the management system not being set up properly (what I suspect anyway, from the issues we saw).

Johnhooks has a great point, as long as it's managed correctly, this could be an awesome idea. Though logistically, I'm wondering how IPs get assigned and transported to the end user with not NATing.

Because you route. That is how IP works.
