ownCloud 9 is Here
-
And straight from our Community Manager....
We're proud to make ownCloud server 9 available. This release delivers new collaboration features like comments and tags, improved scalability and better federation and sharing in general. You can find more information in our release blog https://owncloud.org/blog/owncloud-server-9-0-released
We're very proud of this release, as it introduces some massive features while still improving a LOT on stability and performance. You can find out about the big and small improvements on our website at https://owncloud.org/nine
We'd like to thank all the awesome ownCloud contributors and users for their hard work and support - without you, ownCloud wouldn't be as awesome as it is!
A blog post with instructions on upgrading will appear tomorrow on https:// owncloud.org/news
Get the latest version on https://owncloud.org/install and be sure to let us know what you think about it! If you're using the zip file with the built in updater, we'll release the new version some time next month. Of course you can always upgrade sooner by hand!
PS some packages, esp the older releases, are still building, so are the VM's so not everything is there yet. Don't despair, our build servers are working overtime and it is all coming ASAP!

I looked to see if this was out less than four hours ago
-
Looks like CE_Stable has been updated so running yum update does the job.
-
@scottalanmiller You were just a couple hours early...initial surge hobbled the site, but you should have no issues getting to it now
-
And updated. Some of the apps have updates available but I am unable to update them. Will have to troubleshoot it when I get a moment.

Searching is much faster. Not sure if that was part of this update or not.

Upgrade is done. I have a rather large list of Security & Setup warnings... but everything does seem to work.
Apparently the documentation links aren't up yet... or their site is still being overrun, lol.
-
Yeah, we keep hardening oC so you get more and more warnings... But you also get a more and more secure system if you do what they suggest
The docu should be up, if you bump in missing links, pls let me know!

How hard is it to migrate ownCloud from CentOS6.5 to CentOS7? Or would it be better starting over?

Those warnings are silly in 8.2. Things like saying that I have no internet access
Edit: here is what my 8.2 panel shows on a fully updated CentOS7 install.

I actually had the yum upgrade break my installation. I am using NGinx, and had to go back and
chown nginx:nginx -R /path/to/owncloud
to make it happy again.

I am downloading the VHDX appliance. It is taking forever....
