OK I found the file in OneDrive for Business - now how do I get it into SharePoint?
I've moved the file into the shared with everyone folder, but it does not show up for anyone else.

And here begins the confusion.
I've seen your (@scottalanmiller) posts stating that ODfB is SharePoint - and I agree that it is. But, I don't see a way to access files that are in ODfB from within the SharePoint site interface of SharePoint itself (specifically SharePoint in O365).
If you know how to do this, I would love to know the secret.

I have two goals here.

Inside ODfB I see a folder called Shared with Everyone the permissions are set to Everyone Except External users.
I assume those permissions mean anyone in my O365 master account (For lack of a better term at present - I'll call my Azure AD).
While everyone in my AAD has this folder in their ODfB, it does not contain the files of the other users, only those of the user who is logged on.
How is a person suppose to access files put into this folder? And if they aren't - how are we suppose to put things in ODfB into SharePoint in a globally accessible area?
As mentioned, I'm trying to recreate the file dumping ground I have on my local network.
If there is a better sorting solution that still easily grants access to those who should have it (often everyone in the company), I'm all ears.

I quickly starting to agree with you - so now I'm looking for a work around to get to the same point. I'd really like the work around to not include the requirement to download the file to the local machine before putting the file into SharePoint.

With a Sharepoint mapped drive you can store directly to the SP location. I don't like it, but it meets that requirement.

Nope, I'm not using Outlook, I'm using OWA (or rather, Outlook on the Web - I'll never normally call it that).

My image above is pulled from OWA - which allows me to save directly to my ODfB while never touching or using my machine in any real way to make the transfer happen.
