I agree with Jared, what use case example does anyone have. I'm sure there is some extreme niche, but it is trivial to put this somewhere and if you have any infrastructure at all you should have this in a VM. Having an extra piece of hardware is just... extra. Extra cost, extra effort, extra risk, extra to manage.

Do they update automatically? That might be an advantage.

Not to my understanding. But I do not have one to verify.

I can see a market where you have Small/Medium size companies - one man band IT teams - Maybe places with no Virtual infrastructure or simply don't want to install another bit of software on a existing server.

But for me i'll stick with a VM that I can backup and replicate in case of failure 😄

If you are big enough to have a single IT guy, even a half time IT guy, you are much larger than you should be without virtualization.

Maybe in a case where you have literally nothing except for the networking, but even then, it seems a stretch.

True think the product is limited to certain people/scenarios, but I do see it being a help for some :D.
You got to remember (which I seeing on SW more and more) so called IT pro's are coming into the industry without a clue. So this would help them run a Unifi Network with no effort lol

Is it really no effort? It requires that you manage patches and updates without a normal infrastructure.

That's the problem with poorly thought out products, they are often designed around the assumption that the person buying them is already going to do bad things. It's a good way to make sales, because that is often true, but that doesn't mean that there is a place in the market where it makes sense, just that there are people that will buy it anyway,
