So Roach milk is about to become a harvested superfood in the US. Milk that roaches feed their young. Thoughts?
Are you sure it is harvested? CNET suggested a few weeks ago that it is just chemicals based on what roaches use, not harvest but synthesized in a lab.

I think they accumulate it from a bunch of roaches and then 'grow it' in a lab. Still.

If roach milk takes off, someone will bitch and moan until there is a vegan, gluten-free roach milk substitute. And people wonder why I don't want to live on this planet anymore.

Well, if they can effectively synthesize something that comes from an animal, what the hell is up with all other vegan food nonsense? Ever had soy cheese? That stuff will make you want to cry.

Speaking of food synthesising, unless it is molecularly identical to the real thing (be it meat or vegetable) then it's basically crappy candy made by a computer. That whole "meat grown in a lab" thing, a lot of the early, early prototypes going on now even have carbs, meat doesn't have carbs, just pressing it into the shape of meat and having it taste similar, isn't good enough, at least not for me.
I'm willing to eat fake animals so long as my body can't tell the difference, and the only way that's truly possible is if the delicious atoms within are the same, not pumped with sugar and taste-o-flaven to try to trick me.
On top of all that, speaking of soy, for people who often complain about "processed foods" being unhealthy, soy is extremely processed, and almond milk doesn't come from squeezing almonds. There's nothing inherently bad about processing food, I've never understood this at all. Sure, a lot of processed foods are bad, such as pop tarts, but a lot can be good, it depends on what's in it, not the process by which it is made, that's just asinine.
Then again, this comes from people who claim food makers add salt and sugar to make it addictive, considering our bodies naturally crave it without introduction to it (like heroin), that's equally a stupid thing to say. People like it because it's good, and even though too much sugar will definitely kill you over the long term, that doesn't mean people need to add it to make it "addictive," as if when people weren't eating salty/sugary foods they were eating $50 raw organic vegan super food meals, not just korn with the occasional bird and butter.

Supposed to, no. Will much of America find a way to, likely.
