Surprised it didn't die, unless the pool was saltwater?

Many sharks, such as bull sharks, live almost their entire lives in fresh water. That's why Lake Nicaragua is so dangerous... traditionally full of bull sharks even deep inland. Even Minneapolis has seen them. they will swim up river like dolphins. not the same family as great whites, but more dangerous because they go where you'd never think to look for them.

Cool, from a knowledge point of view - I had no idea there were sorta freshwater sharks.
-
No, they aren't freshwater sharks, they are freshwater tolerant sharks. They still prefer salt water, but some are able to survive their whole lives without it. But they aren't natively fresh water sharks.

GAS HITS $.789 in the US!!
Houghton Lake, Michigan: Gas Prices Drop Below $1 Per Gallon in Apparent Price War, Report Says
Gas prices of 78 cents and 95 cents were reported at Beacon & Bridge Market and Marathon, respectively, in Houghton Lake, GasBuddy reported after verifying user-submitted photos.
To the best of my knowledge, this is by far the cheapest fuel prices, after adjustments for inflation, in history.

Ugh, tax that stuff already. I pay $4.13CDN/gallon = $2.84USD
That's the cheapest it's been since the 90's here.

Huh, according to this, it appears that Gas is taxed at a flat per gallon rate, not a percentage.
http://www.api.org/oil-and-natural-gas-overview/industry-economics/fuel-taxes/gasoline-taxCalifornia = 59 cents per gallon
Nebraska = 46 cents per gallon -

We pay ~61 cents per gallon in taxes here in NY.

This differs state to state here, but in Ohio we're paying 46.4 cents per gallon. That's close to half the cost at the pump currently....... just don't fill up in Pennsylvania whatever you do, 68.8 cents per gallon. So I'd say that the tax on gas at the pump is already at insanity levels here.
Edit: I won't even get started on road use taxes for commercial vehicles, unless someone really wants to know part of why it costs $50 to have that $5 wigit delivered via next day service.

Nebraska = 46 cents per gallonGallon = 3.785 liters = 0.2467*3.785 = $0.944 / gallon
We do the same thing but the unit conversions are tedious
Edit: for the record the largest city near me is Vancouver - they're paying 0.3217*3.785 = $1.22/gallon tax

you have to pay for that "free healthcare" some how.

lol and I'm super happy to do it, but you may be frightened to learn that none of the taxes on gas / diesel go to it. All to road maintenance and mass transit.
Edit: I'm wrong, 7.75c / liter go to general funds.

I am intimately familiar with the taxes at the Terminal level. The terminal level is the point where the tanker trucks fill up with fuel to take to the stations.
Federal and State Motor Fuel Taxes (MFT) are applied at that time. MFT taxes are flat, and not % based.
I am familiar with them because I re-wrote an invoicing application for a terminal company.
Here is a load of standard Unleaded with 10% Ethanol. Units in this case is gallons.
