@RojoLoco My GF is all concerned about eminent domain and the county just taking the land for some low ball value and talking about selling the house and buying something different.
We need an attorney before this shit goes any further.
-
To further the story they want to essentially do the same thing on the other side of the road to add two turning lanes on each side!
Why the hell does a church need a turning lane in my property?
-
Yeah, why is the county buying stuff for a church? That's inappropriate.

They just want to make it their property.

Exactly.
If they want the land they can buy my entire house out. This is just bullshit.

@hobbit666 board cleaning sorry :')
It for one of these:-
A high speed dot matrix printer, basically the board is showing RAM failed so instead of buying a £200 system board, or £2000 for a printer we thought giving it a good bloody clean might help! -

Unfortunately not unheard of... sounds like a member of that church is on the county board or in the highway planning committee.

An older couple that my friends and I know are getting eminently domained by the city for a new road extension - only instead of a lowball offer, the city is just taking the land, citing right of way as justification. We're all pretty pissed about it because they will go right through the house and the folks will have to move.

If it took a bit of the property, that's one thing... but to claim eminent domain and kick people out of their house? If I were the folks, I'd lawyer up about it.

They have (they are old and retired and loaded), and while I'm not certain on the details, there seems to be no legal recourse for them.

Wow... Where is this at? in Georgia or somewhere else?
-
I thought they still had to pay at least market value when eminent domaining your shit?

Me too. They may be getting a pittance, I'm not sure, but it's so little that it may as well be nothing.

Not with right-of-way. That's an entirely different can of worms that is very per municipality.
-
If they eminent domain the property they had better buy the entire thing.
The house is worthless otherwise.

Sock puppets covering stuff is a thing.

Was looking for a way to open the case of a DLink 615 WLAN AP (just had one spare). Luckily I found this guy who had the required special tool.
