Alright, I just tried it to make sure I'm not crazy. It works just as I described.

Our phone system has had this feature since day one, yet people take the long way. Put the caller on hold. choose another line, and call the internal person in question, then hang up, pick up the on hold caller, then finally transfer them.

Even after teaching them Announced Transfer, they still don't use it.

I trained people to do just that, for now, until I figured this out. However they just resort to yelling across the office 😞

Do you have call parking setup? It is a really handy work around for this. Although it takes about the same number of steps there is no need for the receptionist to pick the call back up to transfer it. Just call the 2nd person and tell them so-and-so is parked on line X.

Aww, forgot about this. We have this feature too, and use it a lot, well others do, I don't.

I think that that is @jenuinecase's strategy.

No we use Skype around here. Since most everyone (except myself) is in offices all over the country Skype works great for us. But now that I am done I will be checking this out.

On the Yealink phones, if you hit a BLF button to transfer to a person, it does a blind transfer by default. This is easily configured in the phone to not do a blind transfer but it is the default behavior.

If you want attended transfer, you need to hit the transfer button prior to hitting the BLF button. Because hitting the transfer button basically places the call on hold and opens a new line for you.

I would advise parking with caution. Just keep in mind there is one parking lot timeout destination by default in FreePBX / Elastix, and you set a specific timeout value as well. Anything on park for the amount of time specified would go to the single timeout destination. If you are doing some kind of multi-tenancy setup, that could cause a problem where someone on park for company A ends up getting to the receptionisy of company B. Oops.

Doesn't it have the option to always go back to the origin unless it is unavailable?

So we tested this. And the calls failed on transfer. Just so I understand since I am very new to Elastix.

When a call comes in hit transfer the number I want to transfer too and wait till they pick up to ask if they want to take the call and then just hit transfer again?

Cause that is what I did and the call failed to transfer. Of course it didn't drop so I was able to do the process as normal Transfer, # transfering to and Transfer again with no issues.

Sounds like you need to hit the BLF key the second time, not the transfer key.

There are 2 transfer keys (well one actual key and one for an option on the screen). Could one of these be configured for BLF?
