Not sure what happened but I am suddenly incapable of getting Dropbox working on my PC.
      Windows 8.1 Pro x64
Joined to domain and I am a logging in as a domain admin

It was working fine and then I went to open the program and couldn't. After noticing my files were there but they were not syncing the changes past a certain date (not sure what that was but around the end of January), I uninstalled and tried reinstalling. I was able to reinstall but still cannot launch the program. Tried uninstalling with Revo but that didn't do it. I have installed the program using Ninite, the installer, and the offline installer. Nothing works. The issue is that now the installer completes but the actual setup for the program goes through on the first run for connecting your account and pointing where you want the folder to go. This is quite irritating and I could use some advice. I appreciate it!

      Thanks,
      A.J.

Maybe the firewall is causing a problem?

Can you delete computer association from your dropbox account?

That's very odd. Have never seen an issue like that with Dropbox before.

You don't have any whitelisting rules (or something to protect against Cryptolocker) set do you? Dropbox will operate out of %appdata% - although I'm not sure at what capacity, but this is something you can check for. I know the auto-updater does...

I was thinking this or your AV could be an issue.

You mention that you have joined a domain - Could there be domain rules prevent this software from being installed?

Nothing has changed. It worked then it didn't...

Tried that...the issue is that I can't open the program after it installs...

Yup, which I found weird but that's how it works...I run Webroot EP so nothing I know of...

                          Shouldn't be...I haven't set anything as such...

Try disabling Webroot while you perform the update (or any other active scanning apps if you have them)...doubt that would be it, but it's worth a try.

One step ahead of you....I disabled Webroot and I'm running the installer again...I couldn't open the app still so we'll see...

Ok, by some miracle I got Dropbox to open, which I've been able to in the past, but...I can't configure the account to link it to or where to store the physical files...want to move it to my 😧 drive but can't...can't link or unlink it from a non-existent account...GGRRR!!

So, do you expect faster service just because you've been with them for 10 years? I wouldn't, I'm on a free account, they will get to me when they get to me.. if I want faster service.. I need to give them a reason.. and parting with some of my cash is just that reason.

In fact, being "free" for ten years makes you the biggest drain on their resources. You are free and always free, unlike someone new to the free account that might be on their way to a paid account.
