From $350 annual to $475 annual. Still a bargain, but a lot more money.
-
That is a pretty big percentage leap.
-
YUCK!

So Action Pack was the Technet killer?

No, they have nothing to do with each other in any way. There is really no overlap in use cases. This is the second time I've heard someone say something like this today. Where is that idea originating?
Both Technet and MAPS have been around since the 1990s. Technet was eliminated because its content was just made basically free.

It was a question with no assumptions behind it. That's all... cowers in fear of SAM's wrath

I remember some people on a different community saying something like that. So yeah there were some assumptions behind it
I remember reading like 50 angry letters on the SW MS page

Yeah, it has been repeated a lot. I'm not sure if people think that TechNet was allowed to be used in product or if they think that MAPS is only for a lab or what. I can't figure out where people think that they overlap. Especially as pretty much anyone with MAPS had TechNet too.

I think it was more of the fact that folks were selling the keys. Back a while ago, you could get 5 legit Windows licenses per version, so with 7 you would have 25 licenses to sell. They dropped the request rate down to two keys per account, but soon after they went ahead and killed Technet.
I always get a chuckle when I look at my soon to be expired Technet account and see this.

Meh, it's for Windows 7, they are already in use and have been for a long time. And they are going away in 30 days. Do your worst!

Pretty sure those are expired the moment that you aren't a student.

For the record, I do know the difference between a valid key and having a license. However, I doubt that MS cares or would come after me.
-
I'm pretty confident that they care. Those licenses are how they make their money.

Ok, let me rephrase. They have to catch me!
