Well speaking of internships, NTG offers a program for that I've been enrolled in it for almost two years now, and I've learned Networking, a bunch of Linux, an almost complete spectrum of L1 support, PBX configuration, and a whole lot of other extremely useful things. It's a joy to be able to work under the wings of people with years of experience, and be able to learn all kinds of things.
