Good learning experience on how to modify that setting.
We do a load of phones, and tons of specifically those routers, and we've yet to see SIP-ALG break anything on them. They are unique in that respect, from what we've seen. SIP-ALG traditionally is the SIP blocker (for no good reason.)
But the issue you are seeing is almost certainly with the phone provider.
It cleared up the phone quality a little bit, but they're telling me it's my firewall, even after shutting that off, and running a restart just to be safe.
Yeah, every scam phone company that can't figure out how to manage phones says that. We deal with that all the time. We generally tell customers to just take their existing phone, attach it to a good service, and see how it works perfectly with no network changes. Then they realize that they were being scammed and fire the con artists.
You are just stuck that they don't know how to fix their phone system and you aren't the boss so can't fire them.
basically

It's an awesome sales tactic because it's black and white. Customers instantly know that they aren't dealing with telephone engineers, but just sales people looking for the easy sale and when things break, they get left without support or options.

Running an EdgeRouter Lite
But what about the firewall that blocks traffic to the PBX?
No idea what that is, but that's controlled by the company. I took this the guys who work with them on these issues, I got a few complaints from customers while on the phone with them.. had to call from the Cell phone it's self so they could understand and here me.. Saw these errors after restarting the apps. Thought I'd see if this was something wrong with my firewall are not..
Not what you've said in the past - you said your company hired the firewall services out so they would have a "managed" firewall situation.
-
As a test, plug your laptop directly into the Cable modem (you'll have to reboot the cable modem for it to recognize the new connection, and try it - if it still has issues, you know it's not your ER-L.
One could argue that the windows firewall was the issue, but that seems very unlikely.

And not a server address?
What app are you using on the phone?
I know Bria, for example, can supply the server info to the clients - they are a heavily managed SIP client.

it's called the Vast Communicator.
No server address -
Wait, like this Vast... https://www.vastbroadband.com/
This is just a consumer home service? No wonder they don't have any support. Those places would never be able to handle this. Even Cox and Comcast don't have any business phone offerings. This stuff is low end for a HOME user!

anything to save a buck I guessSaves a buck? No way. That has to be SO expensive. That consumer crap is NEVER cheap. You always pay double to quadruple what a good business service costs.
