Wordpress Theme Recommendations
-
I have been tossing around the idea to start a blog to document a hobby of mine. I believe Wordpress is probably the best/easiest choice.
I also use Grav for some internal documentation sites at work, so I could use that as well. But lets assume I go with Wordpress. There are some awesome themes available. A lot are free, but most I have found charge per site.
Are there any good suggestions around here for a nice looking free or inexpensive theme source?
I don't mind paying if I can use a template on more than 1 site. For example, if I want to spin up 2 sites. 1 for blogging, and 1 for some other random website.

Can't go wrong with WP for blogging.
Themes... that's totally subjective and imo depends on the content. That said, I like some of https://www.cryoutcreations.eu/ themes, and use their Nirvana theme for my blog.
-
I think this is kind of subjective based on what the expected subject matter might be.
If your WP site is going to be about Dungeons & Dragons you may not want to use a specific theme as it might not feel right.
-
I often just use free ones from WordPress' own collection.
-
We use DIVI - but I'm not saying it's good or bad as I've never used another.. or WP plain.
-
@Obsolesce They have some nice themes. The free ones are of course limited, but probably more than enough for a blog.
-
@scottalanmiller Yeah, they have some decent ones as well. Not as polished as some of the fancier ones, but still ok.
-
@Dashrender I don't have experience with Divi, but I have heard from other people that once you use Divi, changing your site to any other theme is very difficult. No idea if that is accurate or not though.

It probably is near impossible to leave DIVI once you really get into using it.. that I would agree with.

DIVI?
Divi purports to be the most popular theme on WP. It's definitely popular and seems to do a lot and has decent licensing rules. But is pricey, too.

Oh, I googled it and seen so many other things lol. I haven't heard of it before so I wasn't sure what I was looking for.

it adds a ton to WP - including a wsyiwyg editor (if you want to use it), etc..
