So why not create a "new 20GB" version of that 200GB and move the services? I could see how you'd want to save the space. But it seems like a lot of effort if only for 180GB.

Virtualize and put both on the same hardware. Let them be 32 and 64 bit.
It doesn't matter much but for new stuff it's better to stick to 64 bit. -

If you really needed to save the space, I'd create a new 32-bit OS that's 20GB and just move those services from the 200GB to the new 20GB.
But like I said, seems like a lot of effort.

I said virtualize and put both on the same hardware. I think you just misread my earlier post.
If he uses thin provisioning he doesn't have to think about saving space.

I'm really kinda lost then.
If your thinking was to move to a single VM - I would guess most around here would tell you no, leave them separate VMs.
Once knowing that, assuming you have enough resources on one server, migrate and be done.

OK. Linux servers to start. The 32 bit app requires some 32 bit library stuff that I cannot find for Debian 9/10 so I was thinking I could install on a 32bit and go from there.
Do you need to be on Debian? Linux 32bit is a dead animal pretty much across the board. I'm assuming that this is dead software without support? What's the plan in the future as these libraries get more and more rare?

It actually isn't dead. I'm not sure why they haven't made the switch the 64 bit. They just updated the software back in June.
