Cat5/6 100 meters

Hi,
I believe switch to device limit is 100 meters on cat 5/6. Can i exceed? if i will make it switch to switch by around 150 meters?

It might work... It might not. Fiber might be worth the consideration here.
Edit: Cat6 will likely get you connected, but at 150 meters, I don't think you'll always have a solid connection.

I thought the switch sends the signal up to 100 meters, and if the other end switch will also send up to 100 meters...oh yeah. signal doesn't handshake..toink.

Will it work and have link? Yes.
Will it work at 1Gbps Full Duplex? Maybe, but poorly.
You are talking half again the rated length of Ethernet.
People do stupid crap all the time and have it work. That doe snot been it works well or for long.

To have 2 Ethernet cables that exceed the limit of the cable, you need a switch in-between the two cables. This repeats the signal.
But it's costly in that you need to have power wherever the first cable ends and the second cable begins. Plus you need to install a switch.

You could use media converters on the end of the fiber if your switches don't have Fiber connects. This of course adds costs but you aren't doing something odd like installing a switch to create a daisy-chain ethernet cable. .

Yes, I understand. I said use a repeater at the top. Then JB was JB, even though when you say "switch" it's synonymous with a lot of things that aren't required of a repeater, such as mac address tables. That doesn't matter though because JB just wants to be a dick all of the time.
I ask for clarity as there are very few things that are universally the right decision and I get a giant ellipsis.
