NextCloud as a Win10 VM

As an experiment - could you run Nextcloud as a VM on Windows 10, use the Windows file system for storage?

Again this is an experiment. Ideally you would run the whole system as Linux.

You can use anything you can mount from the VM as storage.

Nextcloud support storing the data directory externally.

So you can theoretically use Windows FS underneath.

Can you run NextCloud on Windows 10?

Not officially, the pieces needed for it are not available.
You can get around 1. by porting or writing all of the necessary pieces for it on Windows.
Using the Windows FS is not the same as running on Windows.
This couldn't possibly have a purpose.
Windows 10 licensing would likely prohibit this due to the range of capabilities in NextCloud.

He is not running it on windows 10. He is running it in a VM under Hyper-V on windows 10.

Well that's just silly, it'll run the same as it does under Hyper-V on Server 2016 using Windows NTFS under it. That's what he has already.
