iOS - Unifi connectivity issues

Seeing if anyone else has recently started seeing this pop up...
Android, Windows, and macOS devices are all fine. iOS devices were running version 10 (cause, who needs updates). Just last week people started complaining that they could connect to WiFi but no services would work. Eventually, I determined it was only affecting iOS devices.
Upgraded devices to version 11 but still no-go. I thought possibly it could be a very out of date controller install. But the version is 5.5.x, which released just a few months ago. So, not terrible. Going to upgrade this next week anyway. Odd part is nothing had changed with the affected iOS devices (BYOD, and nobody updates anything apparently), hadn't done any updates to the controller software during that time, or system updates (using software controller, not CloudKey).
Anyone else experiencing this with any networks?

There was an update to UAPs that caused this issue. Check what version of firmware you have on the UAPs.
-
Firmware can update on it's own outside of the controller version being updated.
If the Controller is set to auto upgrade UAPs, that could explain why this happened considering you haven't updated the firmware on your own.

Thanks, I'll have to check that out.

Discovered the APs aren't running the most up to date software, if it had updated. 'Upgrade' button is missing on the controller, for each AP. Guessing I'll have to get the controller software updated first.

Always the best thing to do.
Upgraded mine tonight. UniFi 5.6.29 is current and the firmware on my UAPs is 3.9.19.8123 now.

I'm curious, had you noticed the same thing prior to the upgrade? Where an upgrade button for the APs was missing, but upgrading the controller made the AP upgrade button available?

Upgrading the controller will force it to get new firmware as part of that process.
Outside of upgrading the controller, it should periodically download new firmware.
Or you cac manually tell it to in the settings.

I woudl assume that if your controller is too far out of date that it may not get new firmware due to changes, but I have no idea on that. Never tried.

It's not insanely far out. I thought 5.5.x was older than it actually was. Looks like our version was released late October. Definitely needs to be upgraded though. Scheduled maintenance windows is set for tomorrow night, so hopefully that solves a couple mysteries.

what firmware version do your UAPs have now?

Not sure off the top of my head. I looked earlier though; they are 1 or 2 minor releases behind.

Assuming you haven't updated the controller software yet, look it up and post if you remember.

Guess this is first in the list of morning jobs

So far no issues on my iOS devices so I would check the upgrade. I am on 5.6.29 now.
-
My UAPs were on 3.9.19.8011 last week with no issues. I just upgraded them to 3.9.19.8123 this morning.

Ouch.. that is kinda old. might be worth a search to see if iDevices have a known issue with that firmware or curiosity sake.

I had been searching online for a couple days. Nothing glaring on any forums that I had looked through.
