I have a client that I would like to move to using just OneDrive. The first issue I'm running in to is how do I create a folder that everyone has permissions to AND will sync locally? It seems when I use the OneDrive for Business app, it creates a shortcut under Favorites in Explorer, but doesn't sync the shared folder.

I hated OneDrive and moved away from it. I seem to remember using Sharepoint online, creating a folder with permissions to the respective group, then using the 'folder link' adding that to the business one drive app to sync... then that added the favorite. Though, I did move off of it.

@Jimmy9008 - Thanks so much. That was pretty much how it worked. Sad you can't do that within OneDrive. It shouldn't be that complicated.

Except it's a Microsoft product. If it was easy, people wouldn't believe that MS made it.

Just look at the thought process to do what you want to do:

Hmmm I want to create a OneDrive folder for everyone. Step 1 open up SharePoint. ??

For me, step 1... bin Sharepoint. But yes, if you want to do it how you want, then your step 1 works...

OneDrive is a consumer product. While many people want to share at a consumer level, I'm not sure it's MS's current intent.

ODfB, that's another beast - I'm not sure about now, but in the past ODfB was not OneDrive.

                      Is teams for sharing files?

I thought SharePoint is MS's modern way of sharing files to users in a company?

I can't believe @scottalanmiller let the use of "OneDrive" and "OneDrive for Business" go un-yelled-at in a post.

I twitched a little but tried to let it go.

It really does make a big difference, though.
