Dropbox saved almost $75 million over two years by building its own tech infrastructure

Queue "The Cloud is Dying" articles.

Which is funny because people confused DropBox with cloud. Although in reality, we can pretty safely assume that DropBox remained cloud, just stopped using a hosted one.

Another web hosting company offering "lifetime" service. How long before they fail like Cloud at Cost?

            https://www.thedailybeast.com/get-a-lifetime-of-web-hosting-for-just-dollar25

Looks like it's a deal being offered through thedailybeast site. I don't trust either.

umm, webhosting is not what C@C did.

lifetime anything is a gimmick of course. but don't conflate your issues.

Yes, C@C did not do web hosting, it's anything that offers "lifetime" that gets associated with them.

Reading it, I'm not sure he meant to group them together. I think that he was just making a point about the lifetime joke thing.

Pertino anyone? Another unrelated, but "lifetime" product already looking like it is going away for the lifetime users.

Its probably based on Ubuntu but using their own custom Desktop environment.

Apple's phone plans for 2018 revolve largely around the iPhone X design.
