Looking for an Ultrabook for Linux and Development

@scottalanmiller basically any clevo reseller has those models, so you can find the one colser to you (duties).
btw for personal experience nothing is as solid as a dell/hpe/lenovo enterprise lines chassis-wise. Clevo stuff is nice but a bit more weak. -

Just keep in mind that Intel are releasing their 8th Gen on 5th October. By releasing, I mean the big product launch with the fanfare and propaganda etc.

Thanks everyone for helping to look at options. With the 8th gen procs set to be available any day, it is a terrible time to be picking out laptops. But cannot be helped.

@scottalanmiller I use the Inspiron 2-in-1 line and love it for lower cost and great functionality.
Not the best laptop in the world, but I also didn't pay $2000 for it.
I have been running Korora 25 and then Fedora 26 on my laptop with no issues.

I feel the nearly half price justifies it. I'm easy on laptops, if this thing lasts anywhere near 50% as long as a more expensive one, it's a huge win as it is faster now and when I replace them twice as often, they will be way faster yet!

Apple said Air line was getting an update later this year. Perhaps around black friday? That's when I usually buy their hardware.

I’ve never been a fan of the way they look. However if you need a portable desktop the Bonobo is hard to beat.

I need quite a bit of RAM, but little else, really. So pretty far from a portable desktop.

What do you need that much for? I run a few vagrant boxes on mine for Ansible development and only have 8GB.

Need to mirror the production build out environment. So a few GB here and there for different machines on KVM. Plus running some dev tools on the main desktop. Nothing crazy, but it only takes a few database VMs to add up.

That is really nice, for sure. However, this is not a desktop replacement for me, only a mobile device.

Ah ok. Ya I think the most I have running at once is 3-4 but it’s usually auto builds with molecule/vagrant so not much is eaten up (~2-3GB)

The latitudes still have an Ethernet port. It is really nice.
