So assuming a $20 per year registration fee as Google charges for a typical .com, you can see they would need to have 3,100 domains sold for 5 years to just make costs.
Down to 620 is you charge $100 per year.

I've checked one or two before, and I think that they were like $200 / year. The numbers were absurdly high given how goofy then tend to look.

And the above table is why.

Lower than I would guess, but too high regardless.

What price are you wanting? Google Domains is $20 per year. GoDaddy is similar.

GoDaddy is $15/year. That's a lot cheaper. $9/dom/yr adds up. It's not crazy, but it's a big percentage.

Make sure you look for coupon codes for Godaddy. You can often (several times a year) get 2-year new domains for way cheaper. Sometimes renewals too.

Yeah, $15 is just list. We rarely pay that.

I paid $1.50 for the first year. It also depends on the domain. A lot of .coms (or other normal ones) are significantly higher.

They are all the same price. Those that are higher are not available and you are buying ones that someone already owns.
