Security Camera w/ POE Injector

@wirestyle22 Then your limitation will be the Ethernet limitations for POE.
-
for 10 cameras you may just want to bite the bullet and get a beefier PoE switch bud

They are all over the building. That's why I'm thinking injectors for the mean time. We are getting all new switches soon.

You know your place better than I do
I also know how much I hate being up on a ladder. #biased

A more powerful switch would be a much easier approach in the grand scheme of things.
Just hook it up to your existing network, and move the ethernet from the old switch to this new one. Problem solved.
Plus 10 wall worts will take up a lot of plug space (not to mention power). Plus the wasted money today, that will be worthless when the new switch arrives tomorrow.

we have a ton of network closets and the cameras are everywhere so we would need to replace a lot of switches...which we already are but we need a bandaid in the mean time. It's local government. nothing ever happens quickly.
-
the camera has a 12V DC power supply. Do I need a specific POE injector? I'm assuming I do.
-
gotcha, so not just a single closet.
In that case, wall warts it is. Just connect the wall-warts in the existing closet and move the Ethernet to them.

If the camera has a power supply, you do not need power. there is no other reason for PoE except to power the camera.

It has the option of one but we don't have something to plug it into (they are very high up). I have only ever set up a POE injector with the UAP and thats made for it so it didnt require any research

You just said it has a 12VDC power supply. Either it is using 12VDC or it is using PoE, not both. Which is it. FFS, stop and think a minute, then clarify WTF you are trying to ask.

I'm looking at POE adapters here: https://www.ubnt.com/accessories/poe-adapters/ I see that there are different voltages. I'm assuming I have to make it higher than 12V and I'm okay?

No, that is not how that works. Are you trying to simply fry everything?

I don't know how it all works, that's why I'm asking. It's hard to ask the right questions when you don't know what the right questions are

You need to get a PoE injector that matches your voltage and amperage requirements for these devices.
Not just anything..
-
These cameras will have a voltage and average requirement on them, find injectors that match, buy those and install.

Yeah. My confusion comes from the fact that the specs page just says POE and 12V DC. Reading the manual.

You can start by not just randomly guessing shit. and answering the questions asked.
