@garak0410 I officially declare it to be Beer O'Clock wherever you happen to be located.
I'm checking out the new Hideaway Pizza down the road tonight and then heading to Retrocade!
@garak0410 casts Nostalgia Blast! and strikes a wrecking blow

Back to the grind today on this. I do have a call scheduled with WebRoot to see if they can shed some light on this. I imagine it is one dang setting somewhere but can't seem to find it.
-
Oh and by the way...the user of Estimating02 is out today so we can poke and prod it as our test today if needed.

I had WebRoot uninstalled on Estimating02 all weekend. So since the user was out today, I was able to do a few things...the first thing I did was release/renew IP address...and then reboot...BAM, it pinged...I reinstalled WebRoot...it is pinging still...and Windows Firewall is turned OFF (Webroot Firewall is on)...Webroot did call me and said it is OK for Windows Firewall to be on so may turn it on later (user actually came into work, so can't play with Estimating02 right now).
So, I am making a master list of PC's that won't ping and may try this on a few more to see if it helps...Drafting02 is next...

Theory didn't work...Drafting02 still doesn't ping...

I don't see that anyone has recommended trying the symantec cleanwipe tool. I would give that a shot in case its a shitty uninstall that is causing you issues.

I can't find the CleanWipe tool...it says I need an active account to download...I asked Symantec on Friday but they still haven't responded...

Users already reporting lockups in that one program which extensively writes to a network share. These problems have only occurred since removing Symantec Endpoint from our servers when we migrated to WebRoot. I did not load WebRoot (as of yet) on servers.
Symantec! Oh that's not good it has been known for destroying workstations when it is removed.
Yes, this. Did you run the special removal tool, or just do a standard uninstall?
-
WebRoot has said this is not their problem and cannot help me. So awaiting Symantec CleanWipe...my next step is to get the tool.

Yes. Would not expect Webroot to pay to support your Symantec install.

It was worth a shot though...was just hoping they could determine the chicken or the egg moment...Symantec or Endpoint causing it...Symantec is silent thus far...

But @garak0410 said he's having this issue on a brand new install PC as well as those that had Symantec removed from them. While this could be a server side issue, @garak0410 indicated that he couldn't ping or remote access that new PC that never had symantec on it from another PC either.
@garak0410 here's something to try. Get two new OS install machines and see if these problems exist between these two machines while joined to your domain. You might have GPO issues.
-
Ah missed that. There are vanilla machines with the problem.

I ran Symantec CleanWipe on DRAFTING02 and rebooted...as of yet, not pinging but won't write it off yet...I still need to run this on the servers tonight though...since they are virtualized, will for sure do checkpoints...may only do one tonight...the Domain Controller/DNS/DHCP server...

And I love to look at the silver lining...thank goodness we are not DOWN...
-
Running CLEANWIPE on Domain Controller/DNS/DHCP server had no effect...this has to be something with Windows Firewall on that server but I just don't know what it is...

The perils of being a SOLO IT Director (and IT guy)...not only is management demanding this be fixed, but for me to develop on a project they want progress on, and troubleshoot why AutoCAD LT 2017 stopped working today for users, and why a VBA Spreadsheet is crashing when it hasn't in the past, and why a few of our IP Camera's went down and why some printers are smudging on PDF's, and why our drafting program still locks up since we migrated to WebRoot.
They've even suggested maybe we shout outsource part of my job for a few weeks to get caught up...ego hit!

If you were at ML Con you would have heard several people tell you that if you're a one man shop.. using outside resources like that as needed should be expected and used.
But I'm with you.. how is it not an ego hit? But there are times when you just need to put your head down and work on a problem, and working on a printer just isn't important enough for you to handle yourself.. so if given the chance to outsource.. dude, take it! The bad thing, you'll spend probably a half a day getting that person up to snuf on your network so they can be sorta effective.
