because you aren't here to learn.
How did such clueless people advance then? Their inability to learn has been a constant point of contention. Clearly, something not true there.
It's not inability to learn .
Its not having time to learn because I'm leaving 1.5 hour early everyday for 5 days at a time .
Wouldn't being pointlessly at a desk instead of a more work conducive environment be the actual barrier to learning? Their story just doesn't add up.

We'll while im "Pointlessly at a desk" I'm working on Calls and learning - is their point.

And you can't do calls and learn from home? What do they perceive as an educational barrier at home that doesn't exist at the office?
-
When our staff is home, they work calls. In fact, all calls go to homes. But being home provides for a better learning and study environment, fewer distractions.

No real time communications platform in your office? Our teams at home are real time with each other all day, every day.

Like non-technical 1990s SMS? I think we are finding the core problems
-
For example, whether we were in the office or home, we use Rocket (but Slack, Mattermost, MS Teams, etc. whatever) to communicate in real time, with the whole team, without totally interrupting everyone and making the place inefficient.
It allows us to get individuals, teams, etc. in real time, with minimal effort, while also tracking conversations so that we can easily convey technical information fast, but also look it up later.

So clearly being "in the office" isn't allowing their internal IT staff to "learn" appropriately. This isn't a complicated problem, this is so basic that it is free to fix and just "assumed" that the most basic IT department would have that solved today.
-
So that is definitely just excuses to not work efficiently.

If you are doing SMS only, how do you get links and codes and stuff to your workstation quickly so that you can save time without having to type everything in? How do you deal with communications in real time while on the phone with a customer?
-
@scottalanmiller Noticed that ML was 502ing sporadically the last 5 minutes. Don't know if someone else also had the same experience.
-
Starting to play with Zabbix.

So I'd chalk all of that up to excuses, because it's more than incompetence would rationally allow for. They can't actually think that that's how a good office would work, and they are making it hard for you to work from home and making the office extra hard just to have the excuse that you can't do it easily from home.
It doesn't add up. All of it points to the same basic issue... lack of fundamental caring and capability on their end.
I realize you "like the job", and that's fine. But be very aware, these people are going out of their way to screw you and are willing to hurt themselves to do so.
