But never used OpenVPN and being a Linux newbie can't find many guides for it lol.
Don't need many, you only need one.
Funny found that to set-up the server, but how to configure the EdgeRouter as a OpenVPN client using the certificates you generate on the server I can't find can find a few using username and passwords
-
Don't have time to dig into this but it might have what you need.

OMG this thread is a train wreck. The take away appears to be that no one jumping in there promoting a GUI even knows what the command line IS let alone knows how to use it.
The thread is supposed to be about scripting for engineers, but everyone is talking about GUIs and command line for admins. The degree of not knowing the most basic computer terms here is staggering.

Trying to get pics and videos offloaded from my phone. But uploads are just terrible here. Takes forever.

Made it to the corner store. Kids are awake now. Breakfast is on the stove. Dominica is doing laundry, as well.
-
Oh, and now people are trying to defend how cool they are by claiming that it is ridiculous to think that just typing a command at the command prompt isn't scripting (ergo programming.)
-
Got muted because a guy was lying about his skills and didn't like that I don't let "it's just semantics" or whatever mean "it's okay to falsify information."

Going to RMA a second dsl modem later today.
Different brand, different issues.I am now seriously considering the ERX, AP lite and a separate dsl modem.
What's stopping you from just pulling the trigger?

Testing an updated installation script for Xen Orchestra Community edition to confirm functionality.

A few things.
1). Mrs nadnerB isn't keen on having three devices for Internet access
2). it's a fair bit more expensive to go that route (I need VDSL as that's the
3). I'm not 100% sure if I'll get a choice of warranty swap or refund....
blah blah blah
...
Hmmmm, I might be able to work this using my current modem router as just a modem....
back to the drawing board to re-evaluate and await the RMA results -

Coz we turn everything off when we aren't using it.
I know the AP is PoE but it's something else that has to boot. -

Immediately the question I had

@scottalanmiller @wirestyle22 I do. Cable modem and switch/router/wifi(one device) off every night, and always when i leave for a couple days. Only at home though, not at work.

So I guess you still have cell phones for emergency calls then? I've had phones over the Internet for so long, feels weird to kill them off at night.
-
And my wife surfs the Internet in bed so much, and we like to check on news, emergencies, family and such whenever we wake up - nice to maintain access during the night so that our devices are up to date when we look at them.

I've never heard of such a thing. It's such a small amount of power

And if you do why? Seems like something odd to me, curious as to your reasoning.
