Scariest Thing I Ever Did
-
I've been in theatre for 28 years (community level)...I've been in the kids ministry for 5 years (not ordained but as a volunteer and once as Interim Pastor as they searched for a new one.) I'm in front of the kids all the time and have done a few things in front of our congregation (large church)...last night, after this skit me and the kids pastor did (pictured), I was told I'd have to lead the congregation in a prayer...THAT, my friends, was so scary...not sure what it is about public prayer but to choose the words and lead 200-300 that were there last night, man I was scared but it went well...and I got to use my Surface Pro 3...:)

Well done! Did you have it written down or just wing it?

Congrats, always good to conquer your fears.

Cool, what did you use the Surface for?

That was always the scariest thing to me as well as a youth leader. I was fine when it was the teens but do a special service where all the adults are present and forget it!. Though learning to pray in Lingala was even scarier.

Congrats.

Long story short, our new kids pastor wants to have a kids service in the "big" church every 3 months...so it is kid themed...I was reading the story of Gideon while the kids pastor made sound effects and exaggerated acting to what I was saying...I played the straight man to his goofiness. So, just used my Surface to read the script...bigger and easier on the eyes than an iPad Mini or a SmartPhone.

I did scribble down (with my Surface Pen) words to say during the prayer...and pretty much followed it...

Even scarier, we had an altar call (like we usually do with the kids services) and while no kids came down, two adults did and came to me and I was like "Uh, oh..." but I just relaxed, listened to them and had prayer with them and it went well...a lot of growing that night...
