Ok, I've been looking for something like this for some time now and haven't been able to find anything. After falling for the marketing I picked up a Polycom SoundStation2W.... Turns out this is only IP when it is connected to a computer, not exactly what I would consider an IP-phone.

I was requested to look for a wireless conference phone for our new phone system to put in a conference room where there is no Ethernet and no power. The 2W seemed like the perfect option... except not actually being able to do IP or SIP communication.

Anyone know of something like this or a better solution?

Yep, I can probably run some power if I need too (and ethernet) but the table really isn't designed for it and the requester doesn't want cables running everywhere. The "handset" needs to be wireless, it can have a base station though.

            Found this:
            http://www.revolabs.com/flx2
Looks like it will do what I want it too but seems awfully expensive at ~$900.

Wow that thing is cool! $900 sounds pretty good for something completely new like this. Give it a few years when there is some competition, it might drop to $500, but then again it might not.

Normal Polycom conference phones with extended mics is normally $400+ MSRP. Something like this with 4 batteries, charging station, etc, etc... $900 really doesn't sound bad at all.

I didn't really see it, I did stop by their booth but they were showing off something else I think.

We decided to do hard wired for now... have to run a line over there.

The polycom is really one of the best.

It is VERY hard to beat Polycoms. A little bit expensive but there is a reason that they cost more too.

                              Agreed, Polycoms rock.
