i've heard mixed reviews on all of the movies; Do i understand what you're saying Yes. I agree with you, but I still want to see this movie ; As again I've heard mixed reviews most of which were good reviews so.

Yeah, but you've seen the other movies leading up to it, right? I don't need the reviews that say this is the worst SW movie ever made to tell me that it will make me sad and upset. That it is staggeringly worse and more insulting than any other ever made is a bit surprising considering just how bad so many have been, but I don't need a review for any of that.

interesting.. It's Fair yet Bold to say It's not the same people writing and producing the new movies to the original Saga.
Had they have just created a new Saga all together and left the master piece we all know alone; It'd be much better, that saga would have ended with Luke reuniting with his father and turning him to the Light Side.
The new Saga could have been Way better. In the fact that it would be Disney's own. Would have no Tie to the Original Saga, and could go in any direction they actually wanted it to .Which It's rumored Disney is already writing and getting ready to film a New Star Wars Saga starting 2021..Something to keep in mind : The "new" star wars is not made for "us" the original fans. this is to close out the saga, tie up lose ends and pave way for the new saga to begin. . . Somethings I'll agree - Horrible. Seeing the same movies over and over again after the original 3 ; Force Awakens was New Hope with out a single doubt in my mind they copied the exact same Idea.

It would have been SO much better without using the Star Wars IP.

only those who care about the Original Triology want/need/care about things being tied up.
young people don't because they aren't invested in the OT.

Star Wars was done for the old people. It was wrapped up. Disney "re-opened it" just to spite us. The kids didn't need Star Wars IP used, they didn't like it. The old people didn't need it ruined. Disney seems to have done it out of an abject hatred for the old fan base.

Yeah - I'm more in this camp - it was simply about the money, not an abject hatred of the fans - is there really money to be made in purposefully putting out crap the fans will hate?

Wow - really? I'm surprised you're asking this question - which will lead to an education provided by Scott on how the "new canon" is a lie, and really it's just the alternate universe, and what has been dubbed legends is the real canon.

I find it hard to believe it made as much money as something else would have without alienating so many people.

Yup, it's a different storyline unrelated to Star Wars other than it reuses the same characters, mostly badly, and doesn't have the same quality writing. I find no legitimate way to claim it to be Star Wars. Disney owns the name and can slap it on anything that they want, but it doesn't make something that intrinsically isn't part of the Star Wars universe suddenly part of it.
You can own the rights to Little Women as a name. But you can't write a different story and claim it's actually what the author meant. Jo didn't run a home for boys, she was actually a space pirate.

You really believe a completely new story - non SW IP at all - but still SciFi would have made more money?
I just looked up the top 30+ movies by gross, Star Wars had two or three of the spots - I suppose they could have gotten lucky and done better, though they are much more likely to make more on a known franchise than starting something new...
In the top 10 only three where non sequels. I consider every Marvel movie after Iron Man a sequel, brought about even more so in the last 5+ years by the obvious need to get to the Avengers and End Game.
