EXCEL IS THE DEVIL
dude i supported 3 ladies that uses excel alot like receptionest in hosptial, the only real fix. and they knew excel is soo bad that they didnt really expect from me any solutions. I would just listen to them on how they have to repeat the data entry part ... try to have candy with you when you support such cases
take the data
create new excel file
paste that date, no format, or reduce formatting as much as possible.
Excel is stupid in optimizing, sometimes a user which is valid tries to do quick thing and what he does is
make like infinite number of pink column , so excel keeps saving that. you need to start fresh with values onlyAnd XLSB is fast, try that but take backups

So the ongoing saga that is this user.
This morning - the PC had been up for 4 days (which really shouldn't be an issue) when using Excel - sheets were left open over the weekend for sure! - the search function on the open screen would not allow them to click into the search box. It just sat there dumb... you could close it, but nothing else. When you clicked, literally nothing happened.
Rebooting 'fixed' the issue.
The computer has 16 GB RAM and 256 GB NMVe SSD.
Pending install for updates?

Excel... check the specific spreadsheet(s) workbook(s) that they're having problems with.... we've had a few cases where people are causing problems with data references and other wonderful things that they find when googling for a solution. Like statically referencing another file on their desktop or personal share and then sending the file to someone else only to find that it doesn't work for the other person.
Had issues where someone added some vbs and it caused the file to crash.

Excel is a bitch
Especially, here. They are running all their forecasts through it. Excel using something like 16GB of RAM for one sheet.

Not that I am aware of - I'd have to check the dates on any updates installed.

As much as that likely belongs on a DB server somewhere - who's going to set it up? and program the new interface, etc?

30 years old. Sheeez. Those could have originated on Lotus. Copy / past like previously suggested might do some good.

Ever use Microsoft Dynamics? Uses a backend database with Excel as the front end. Most horrendous mishmash I've ever seen. That was the 2005 version, so hopefully outdated by now.

yeah. that has been in the works for over a year. We are syncing the data to SQL and then will be able to run queries and also export it to Domo.
