And it goes to a phone number that is clearly harvesting information without saying who they are. The resulting IVR makes no sense if it were a legit business. It's someone harvesting information knowing that they are getting calls solely from people calling for the official government hotline.
Well if I knew this number was in the passport, I would likely have tried to acquire it too. In order to resell it to a scammer for a profit.
That's what it seems like.

Almost a week and no response from any of the agencies contacted. Still rings to spam/scam phone number.

Never a response from ANYONE. Still goes to scammers. But, I'll bet the CDC is a bit busy right now.

Well, shit. Now we know it will get fixed. I mean, he'll delegate it to the best person, a really terrific guy (no women allowed in the clubhouse), just a fantastic individual. Then in about a month, he'll fire that person and hire someone else as an interim, or maybe no one at all, but by then, we'll all have forgotten about the issue, until the person that first brought it up goes to a committee after 4 months and then ...wait, what was the original problem here?
